Remeber I asked you about safe contaception for a person with neuropathy'?? Well I perhaps chose not the safest contraception method.

About two weeks ago I got an injection that is only sold in Mexico. This contaception method contains progestin and estrogen. Its contraceptive effect is supossed to last a month.

The point is that ever since I've had these hormones circulating in my body, my neuropathy sympoms increased.

I remember many years ago (before having neuropathy), I visited the gynecholigst because I discovered some tumors in my breasts and he said these and other bening tumors were there because I produced more estrogens than the ones I needed. He prescribed a drug that contained progestins to regulate and avoid the excess of estrogen. I actually never took the drug because I was very young and didnīt find it necesarry.

I have read that hypothiroidism and Restless legs syndrome sympotms worsen when too much estrogen is present. I think this might be my case because of the symptoms have clearly increased since taking the contaceptive drug.

I am considering going back to the gynechologist or to the endocrinologist and asking him if he thinks I should take progesterones in order to have normal hormone levels. I first wanted to ask you what you think.

Is too much estrogen really related to neuropathy??
Should I take synthetic progesterones to balance this?
What progesterone do you recommend?

I am hoping that progesterone, along with d chiro inositol can help regulate my hormones.

Most of the birth control pills contain synthetic progestins, which some women don't tolerate well.

If you search some of the different brands, there are stories on all of them, that negatively affected somebody.

Some don't have any estrogen:
Micronor

Some don't have the standard progestin...
Yazmin
and Yaz are different in this respect.

Some are cyclic like TriCyclen. Different hormones in each week.

There are so many to choose from. This you have to discuss with your doctor.

There is even the IUD Mirena with ultra low dose progestin.

Funny, I've been thinking about the same topic lately. I have a 3-month supply of the generic of Micronor sitting around but I'm scared to pump any hormones into me while I don't know what's going on with my PN.

I've been considering the Paragard since it doesn't have any hormones. But then my dh scares me about the side effects so I'm left at square one.
