The amount of B12 is minute in any oral
Tablet. But you may be intolerant to dyes,
flavoring, or the fillers.

You may have to buy another brand if
You are intolerant to this one.

Is this b12 alone or is it a mixed product?
Rapid flushing can come from Niacin,
Which is B3.

Ok, I've got it mostly figured out. It's Mauves/Trophic B-Balance - 15 ml contains a 1mg dose - yes, mixed with B3 and some others I can't recall right now. No - no reaction prior to this, but I had very mild flushing/itching again today the only thing I can I think of is because the spoon I use will hold slightly more than 15 ml if I pour too much. And from what I typically put on the spoon I believe I'd been just under 15 ml (maybe 13?) with no reaction. I'm really just guessing though. I think you are likely correct, and it is the Niacin.

Yes, I think it is the Niacin. you can try blocking that reaction by taking an aspirin 1/2 hr before taking this.(If you are allowed aspirin, that is, by your doctor).
Make sure this liquid has an current expiration date, as vitamin liquids tend to be less stable than tablets.

There is a flushing warning on the label, and it says to take with food. If you do that you risk losing the B12 absorption, so your options are to buy a separate B12 and take that properly on an empty stomach, or take this liquid on an empty stomach which will likely increase the flushing risk of the niacin. Your decision.

Thanks Mrs. D. I take the RLipoic acid with dinner, but maybe that could cause morning nausea? I had it to a lesser degree this morning without taking anything. Maybe I should stop the supplements and then add them back in slowly one at a time so I can figure out where the nausea is coming from. I took acid reflux meds like Previcid for many years not knowing they could cause issues now. I don't know. I feel like I am taking so much stuff now that I have no idea what the right thing is to do and I find that when I am in such pain, I don't make the best decisions. I appreciate all the help you have given me and the work you do on this site.

Marie: I'm sorry you have not found anything to ease your symptoms. I'm about a year into this and I am trying hard to find something that will help so I don't need the pain meds. I have felt a small relief with acupuncture and soaking my burning feet in warm water with some peppermint oil before bed helps me get a little sleep. I miss my job and my friends, but mostly I just miss feeling well and living the active lifestyle I took for granted.

Try going without the lipoic acid for at least a week, and even better, two weeks. That might be your culprit.

If not, 500 mg. of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) works too.

@Marty--I have some doubts about this liquid B-complex you are using.

It is packaged in a light resistant container, but it appears to have acids added to it...and this may affect the stability of the methylcobalamin.

I'd get some tablets separately and use those properly --it is not that expensive after all. The methylB12 may not last properly in that liquid. And taking with food, is not going to help with its absorption either.

This link explains stability of aqueous solutions of the various B12 types:

Ok. I am very open to trying different sources of B12. After my doctor told me this B12 wouldn't work (his opinion) I didn't take it, and now that I AM taking it I've noticed it's close to its expiry and the flavour has changed noticably. It's probably unstable now and not working correctly.

As for the flushing - I have never experienced it before. I was so hot I had to take all my clothes off. And the itching was almost unbearable. Maybe that's normal flushing? I have no idea.

mrsD 06-23-2014 12:36 PM

I had a terrible reaction once to Niacin....50mg tablet years ago.

I agree it is alarming, and women have areas that become very uncomfortable as well.

The flushing is benign though and not permanent. I have to wonder why Niacin and niacinamide are both in that product?
Niacinamide is non-flush. That product also has a lot of B6, and really you don't need that much.

iherb.com ships to many places and is very affordable. Check it out.

I started my weekly injections last friday. Felt really good the next day. But have slowly declined each day. I purchased some 1000mcg methyl. I try to stick them under my tongue but I think I just end up swallowing them as they dissolve.

My doc doesnt think the pills will help me much anyways claiming my body probably cant absorb them. if thats the case, whats the best alternative? I've seen in this thread links to studies saying putting them under your tongue isnt any better than orally taking it. And if swallowing pills doesnt do much for me, what else can I do besides injections?

I ordered some 5000 mcg pills of methyl. Waiting for them to arrive in the mail. in the meanwhile should I take 5 of the 1000mcg's? Ive been doing two each morning.
