My B12 showed a level of 1500. Does that mean I shouldn't supplement with B12?

It is hard to say. If all the B12 is cyano form... and you could not methylate it (activate it), it wouldn't do much for you then.
The MMA test would show if the B12 you have is working. If your MMA is a very low number, then you could say, you don't need it. If your serum level of B12 is high only because you are continuing to take it, (not stopping it 3 to 7 days before testing), then you don't know what it would be if you did stop it. There are some medical conditions that can raise B12 levels without any supplements being taken. Kidney problems, some cancers, and intestinal overgrowth of some GI organisms are possible, and some liver issues.

It can't hurt you .... so give it 3months. Take on an empty stomach. Check your other thread for more details.
You can get retested, in a while. Stop the multivitamin and the B12 for at least 3 days before the test. It always is a good idea to retest odd results anyway. B12 is determined by calibrating the machine with a known standard. When labs don't get frequent requests for tests like this and some others, the standard can decay with age, and when used, the result will show a false elevation. This happened TWICE with Quest labs and their Vit D determinations. These false tests spanned over a year before it was discovered. So labs do make mistakes.

If you search the word "metanx" in our search engine you will find many discussions about it.
Unfortunately, most people are advised to take it with food, which will greatly diminish or prevent absorption of the B12 orally. Folate is typically not a huge player in PN either. So while it looks like a good idea on paper, it must be done properly to show effects. It will only work, for those who are deficient in those nutrients.

folate helps with the conversion of cyanocobalamin. usually products will indicate cyano or methyl.

I've really got to read more on this thread Mrs. D. I was reading one can OD on the B's and I may just be one. I take the Benfothiamine and the Jarrow B complex and then a spritz of B-12 a couple of times a day... but I must say that my PN is feeling better than in years. I really hope for some healing of the nerves in my lower legs and feet... course I don't let that stop me... I am a real work horse but am getting older and have to be more careful of my gallop.

Taking too much B6 affects some people but that is not common.
But one B-right daily is not that much. If you feel better, that is good..and something to keep going.
