Red face Back Pain

I have been dealing with Neuropathy for over 10 years now and it seems to be a slow traveling journey to hell! I have all the usual symptoms, tingling sharp pains, numbness, itchy, & the worst is the depression. How can you live with this kind of pain forever? I keep hoping for a miracle.

My question is that I was wondering if lower back pain is part if this or something else entirely. I cannot walk for more that 20 minutes and I must sit down. After about 5 minutes I can get up but still in pain. I take 150 mgs Lyrica 3x/day and 30 mgs morphine 2x/day for my pain and although I have discovered the hard way (I forgot to take my pills one morning) that the medication does eleviate the pain I am still experiencing lots of pain towards the end of the day. On a scale about a 6. I dream about being pain free but no luck so far.

I haven't posted here for a long time but I do know that sometimes (actually lots of the time) that people on this forum are more knowledgable than the Dr's.

I'd apprecite any feedback on my back proble. Thanks to all of you for helping.

Chrissy, have you had any MRI's done on your back? If not, I would ask your doctor. I can really relate to what you are saying about the pain and depression, especially today, I am having a pretty rough time.

Maybe someday, somehow, we will get that miracle????

Anytime. As it has been said on this forum many times, we all know what this lousy pain feels like. No one understands better then the people here.

Hi and I am sorry. I agree to ask for an mri of your brain and spine. See if they can do both as they did for me at the same time to just rule out other conditions. I am assuming you are seeing a neuro but have you been to other speciaties and ruled out things like auto immune etc? Have you had extensive bloodwork done? For the depression can you see someone to help on that side? Trust me I know the cycle of pain and depression. I also understand the fears of living like this for ever but you have to hold hope to finding the right treatment and things can get better. I know that can be hard when one is in a bad spot but do you have a good support system that can help you? Hang in there

Sorry about the back pain, I found a good dedicated chiropractor who had my lower back almost pain free in four sessions. The stagger and uneven gait stressed my lower spine and I don't have to use the Lidoderm patches any more.

I was going to ask the same thing, or suggest that you have an mri, or a ct myelogram, which really can let you know if it's rsd or back pain! A really strong muscle relaxer called Soma will give you some relief. I take it when my muscle spasms hit me hard, and it helps me alot. You can also get Soma with Codeine in it (fyi). I have rsd plus failed back syndrome. I had three back surgeries in 2006 and one of them game me rsd, because the Neurosurgeon cut a nerve twice. I deal with back pain from the Neurosurgeon's mistake, and pain from full body rsd, and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference myself which pain I'm having. I hope I helped you?

Default Back Pain

I have had back pain now for about 5 years. Without insurance I've lived with it, no money, no choice.... but as soon as my Disability Medicare kicked in....had a MRI. The MRI has answered so many questions to include what needs to be done to correct the problem. As others have said.....an MRI is probably the best route and I'm glad you will ask for one. Support? See if there are any neuropathy support groups in your area. Best Wishes.....day by day.

Hope...is that a Boston Terrier as your icon? We have had Bostons going on 20 years. Our current Boston is rescued, along with 2 cats. When I'm having a bad day....they seem to know it.....and we all just crawl into bed together and sleep. Sometimes when my husband wants a nap......he has to clear the 3 animals off first! And that's not easy.....they love their momma.....and momma loves her brood.....and my husband too

Yes Lucky, I have had Boston's for years. I am totally hooked. My current Boston is named "Star". She definitely knows when I am in pain and has truly given me so much comfort. She looks at me with those soulful Boston eyes and puts her head in my lap. We just adore her. Pets truly are a God sent to some of us who are in chronic pain. It's so wonderful to meet a fellow Boston lover.
