I had thought I knew what you all meant by buzzing, but I guess I really didn't. I have "walking on broken bones" feelings at times, I have the feelings of things crawling on my legs, cold spots, the pitched nerve feelings in my shoulders, the numbness, burning face, yet the other day I guess I was hit with my first buzzing. I was at work and standing at the front desk, I felt this vibration and immediately thought my cell phone was ringing, I keep it on vibrate at work. Then it hit me that I was across the room from my phone and standing on cement floor, I could not possibly feel it ringing! Since then the feeling comes and goes--just like my foot is vibrating--maybe it is a secret cell phone now! Neuropathy will continue to surprise me, it's so hard to believe that nerve endings could do all this to us!

You have another of the PN surprises huh? I have that vibrating feeling all over, it feels as if it is in the core of my body. Sometimes my vision vibrates too. I can look at a pattern in the floor like tiles. The pattern gets really wavy.
Sorry you got this PN treat. Billye |

or when it's nerves dying or nerves regrown and just 'connecting'.
I've tried to find any research put in a manner that we the patients could understand. There is very little out there, and the largest portion of work centers on spinal cord regeneration. But, here goes w/my take on it all: medicos have a fairly clear idea of how nerves die, they can track it thru biopsies and certain chemistry action/reactions that happen during that process. Regrowth tho, is a bit more obscure, to some, it's a similar process as nerves dying...but in reverse. To others all kinds of new protiens, antigens, chemistry and vitamin and mineral binding actions occur.... It is downright confusing. One aspect I have been able to grasp [I think] is that when those new nerves connect and activate you get that buzzy-shock like vibrating aspect as the new nerve is sending out signals 'I'm HERE! Now What?' In my case, they seem to be random and last about 30 seconds to 5 minutes...then stop. Never occurs in the same place twice and it's not occurring on both legs/feet or hands at the same time. I am making a teeny bit of progress and after my infusions yesterday one part of one foot got buzzy, and then the other ankle did at a different time. I keep telling my self that THIS IS GOOD! Hope springs eternal? Good vibrations to all! - j |

I get that buzzing - vibrating - usually by the end of a day and throughout th night- it started about a year after my PN - feels like when standing up that the bottom of my feet are vibrating and moving in fast tiny lilttle waves (disconerting here in earthquake country) - and usually means a long night of leg shaking... my doc looks at me like I'm nuts when I try to describe this! Unforunatlely we apparently are sharing all this - but good to know thats its more common then let on.....

Seems like we PNers never know whats going to happen next. I havent had the buzzing yet only the numbness and severe pain, but you dont know whats going to happen tomorrow.
Hope it goes away, but as we know things dont usualy go away. wishing you the best Dana |

Sorry all, I have been going through so much as of late, I have been a little slow on the replys. Thank you all for responding. I do still have the buzzing, just like I am standing on a vibrating cellphone! Mostly in my left heel, yet I have felt it in my right a few times. Doesn't matter what time of day and thank God, it doesn't get my legs started at night.
It would be wonderful if it means my neuropathy is healing, yet I do wonder. My first sign of neuropathy, that I recall was over 9-10 years ago. The progression slowed after I went gluten free due to celiacs disease. For almost 2 years now I have been taking B-12, at first, just 1000mcg and now I take 2400mcg daily. Anyone who has healed, did you suffer dizzy spells, pinched nerve feelings in your shoulders, the vibrating????????? |

I have gotten a lot of vibration sensations also, though lately everything has been quiet, and I've always thought it was because the vibration fibers are hit more with with length-dependent axonal neuropathies, than with the painful small fiber neuropathies. So I figured it was a blessing, to have more vibrating than pain. Sometimes I feel it in my body, especially in the morning, deep in my solar plexus. Strange, indeed.

I am taking lyrica. Someone told me there was something out there that would put into remission pn but did not mention what it was. Does anyone know what the medicine would be that is supposed to do this?
The last time I went to the orthopedic doc he prescribed lyrica for me. Does anyone know how to find a good neuro doc in north alabama, around huntsville, al.? b collins |

Wow, Dec 06, I posted that. I guess the nerves aren't dying, I still have the cell phone vibrations, so maybe they are still healing?
