Hi,
I have several problems that are causing Peripheral Neuropathy. I went to the Neurologist and had a second Nerve Conduction test done last week. The latest test showed a worsening of the spine. My feet are very painful. I cannot take Steroid shots due to problems with Lyme Disease. Could anyone tell me what they have tried to help with the back problems. Thanks. BonDon |

Are you on any meds like neurontin etc? Have you been to a pain doctor? I am not that familiar with back issues. I did have back problems and am still tender. My condition is in my legs. Did you ask or can you ask your neuro what the plan of treatment could be and your options?

--in the sense that you may have both spinal issues and problems with the peripheral nerves farther down the line (Lyme disease is a known cause of neural dysfunction).
It's often hard to distinguish if the symptoms are coming from the spine or from peripheral nerves--the symptoms can be exactly the same. Many of the pharmaceutical treatments are also the same, as they can work on nerves in both places, although spinal issues also can have other tretment options, ranging from physical therapy to injections to surgery. Daniella,
I did have a CT scan done. It showed bulging discs, as well as a mild left foraminal disc protrusion. Sensitivities to steroid injections as well avoiding because of Lyme Disease. Anyone try acupuncture seeing any improvement? Other problems could be causing symptoms. Have a lot of pain at night. |

Generally Back Problems take some time for curing. Everything can't happen overnight. So be patient. Get your scans & consult with your ortho., doctor. hmm... last week I met my neighbor who was suffering with the unexplained back problem. He said he is cured almost by getting some sort of customized back pain program from irehab.com. But actually I can't recollect what all he said. But he told it was very effective after trying all medications. Better try them.

Hi
I use a TENS for back pain, actually anything that hurts gets an electrode. I get Botox injections, can't do the steroids either. I have had cervical surgeries, that developed into other issues. Lower pain, usually just the tens. I suggest you get with a good pain management doc, there are lots of options for you before surgery. |

I was suggested acupuncture but chose not to. Anyhow when I spoke to the lady what it made me feel it was about was to help calm you down which helps you sleep better, eat better,be less anxious and that can help the pain. Not so much that it helps the physical but really any help is help in my eyes. I just can't even have a doc touch me so that is why I ruled it out. My step sister has had it done and really found it helpful. You may want to ask your doctor cause my pain doc refered me to one
