Congrats on your new furbaby! I've never had a schnauzer - give me time, I'm on a mission to have one of everything lol - but I understand they are very intelligent and intuitive.

She will love that you have a *job* for her - watching for seizures. All dogs want to contribute, especially high energy, super focused dogs like yours.

She is really pretty. And so lucky to have you! Thanks for adopting.

Just for fun I looked at a pet astrology chart. Abbey and I are both Aries; maybe we'll be closer because of that? The description for an Aries dog nails her to a T! She has a "soft mouth" and finally has a plush toy she dearly loves to play with, and suck on. Picking it up to toss for her is like picking up a big, wet wad of I don't know what!!

I was worried that she wouldn't bond very well to my hubby who drives semi truck for a living and is gone 6 days at a time. While he's home his 2 1/2 days, I'm chopped liver; she's glued to him. Then when he leaves again, she's like glue with me. She's adjusting nicely in that respect.

I don't recommend a schnauzer to anyone who has never owned a terrier. Before Abbey, we had Molly schnauzer and before that Cricket wire fox terrier. I can see traits of Molly and Cricket both in Abbey. We love the terriers, although I will say that we prefer schnauzers because they are more family life oriented. Cricket disliked other adults, small children, other dogs, cats, birds, you name it. She didn't travel well because of her dislike for so many things. Molly schnauzer on the other hand loved everybody and everything. Easy to live with and travel with.

Abbey, Molly and Cricket all agree on one thing: TERRIERS RULE!!!!
