Looks like they are using the nest for feeding still... I see breakfast activity there now.
If you go to their blog, it stated that they are considered "fledged" if they fly to another tree..which two have done. Those two were mobbed by a flock of crows however. (We see terrible crow behaviors like this up North-- We have seen crows destroy nests of birds just for the "fun" of it).... So these guys may not fly off completely yet. And of course, they do need to learn how to find food.

We heard a big commotion one day on vacation, my son and I, so we followed it into the woods. The gang of crows had found a bat in a tree and were harrassing it. We found it trembling on the ground...so we covered it with a flat piece of wood propped up so it would be protected.
Another day we saw and heard a commotion across the bay (there is a home across from us) so we got the binos out and watched. These crows systematically went thru all the trees around our neighbors, and "tossed" out baby birds from nests. They did about 5 different trees while we watched in horror. We didn't know how mean crows can be until then. I call them gangsters now.. the Tony Sopranos of the bird world. They also chase eagles that we can see. But then Terns also chase hawks and eagles.

My husband found this site:
. It is in Maine. There is a forum there, and also video clips of the 2 eagles setting up the nest...and defending it from other eagles. Lots of calling, sounds! It is very interesting... this pair has used this nest for 13 yrs! You need Real Player... however. I am looking at the forum...and it appears that some people think there is an egg there. So there may be some action on this for us all! . I am reading the forum there...and it appears that the huge storm in the NE (which I viewed on the Norfolk cam) resulted in the death of the eaglets in Maine. Viewers are hopeful new eggs are being laid now..to replace the nestlings (some have seen copulating behaviors).

I just freaked that they were gone, but I think they are just blending in really well with the branches!
I really like the almost daily slide shows.
