Unhappy Our Baby Is Gone!

Christmas is over for us forever as our beloved furbaby Blue died in Hubby's arms on X-mas night. He was 12-13 and hubby wanted him to die with the person that he loved most (hubby) and not in a cold scary place and I watched my big marine husband hold his baby in his arms for over 6 hours as he slipped away. I made sure he did not suffer (disabled nurse here) and I am sure many don't agree but we knew this little guy wanted his daddy with him and I was shocked to see this burly ex marine cry a river of tears(6 hours worth) while his best friend left this world. We tried over and over to put him in is daddy's bed and he used the last of his strength to crawl to him and hubby did not think he could do it but in a way it helped the both of them say goodbye. I knew he was running short on time and hubby stayed in denial until the last minute...this dog was OCD about eating metal and I am shocked he lasted this long....He ate fish hooks, nails, you name it and we had surgery after surgery to remove it until it became obvious he would not stop and we could not spend 500 a week on surgery so if it was not old age then it was likely a punctured colon. By the time we knew he was sick it was too late. I am going to give hubby a little time to heal and then I am going to present him with a white mini schnauzer (male of course) and hope it will help him heal and move on. I have 2 females that helps me more then any med in the world get through this miserable life I am stuck with and I believe in pet therapy. Hubby has terminal heart disease and I have seen how our dogs help the both of us, its just so damm hard to have to let them go. Our Golden we had for 11 years killed our Thanksgiving back in the 90's when some terrible people poisoned him. I don't allow mine to leave their fenced area off my room with a doggy door. I just wonder how long I will see the little white ghost in my house...he was hubby's dog but we all loved him. I am still crying. Hubby placed him next to our Golden at 2am Xmas night. It feels like I lost a child and a lot of people don't understand that but we treat our little ones like our kids. I miss you Blue!

Unhappy

((((((((((((((Junie and hubby)))))))))))))

when our JR Terrier died last year, a friend sent me this poem, which I hope will comfort you too.

with deepest sympathy

Quote:
HEAVEN'S DOGGY-DOOR

My best friend closed her eyes last night,
As her head was in my hand.
The Doctors said she was in pain,
And it was hard for her to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled her in my arms.
Were of her younger, puppy years,
And OH...her many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart thats filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE's installed a 'doggy-door"!

Unhappy My condolences!

This is always a very difficult time for pet owners.
You certainly have my sympathies.

Last night our 19+ cat went into the basement and didn't show for our
nightly going to bed. I was reading a compelling book and didn't notice until
2am.
She showed up at 4am and woke me up. I had a brief clutch of guilt but now am wondering if her time is approaching. She is living on 3 yrs borrowed time, according to the vet. She ate okay this morning, and seems okay...for her that is.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Heart

Hi there

I am so sorry about everything that you and your husband are going through ((hugs))
.

.

.

.

We had to have our 13 year old Springer Spaniel, Ben put to sleep in October because of a nasal tumour - it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I still cry now.
We now have a 4 month old springer spaniel called Jack.

Have you thought about keeping a memory/keepsake box? I made a memory box when Ben died and put his lead, collar, chews, toys, photographs in it. It really helped and everytime I am upset I look at it and think of all the happy times I had with Ben.

Sorry again
Love
Alison

Thanks everyone,
I may just take his collar with his tags and some good pictures of all 3 of our fallen male babies (mine was a male 11 month mini schnauzer that went out for a potty break and was mowed down by a reckless driver at the mailbox in our yard and I screamed for an hour and hubby went and found driver and sort of told him if he ever drove past our house he would blow the top of his truck off since he had no business on our road......and they called police on hubby and police agreed driver had no business there and told driver just that after asking hubby not to shoot driver
.
and they moved shortly after ) and I guess thats when I switched to females...but anyway make a scrapbook with their papers and pictures and change the poem to he instead of her. I thank you all for your kind words and for understanding....it means a lot. Mrs D, just love your big cat while you can and its amazing to know she is 19!!

Default So sorry!

We have three furbabies. I love them like they are children. I even sleep on the couch with a bad back because one of our little ones is afraid of storms.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I still see ghosts of our calico cat and she's been gone for 4 years. Give him time to grieve. It's part of the healing process.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss, Junie...and your husband's. I'm glad that Blue had the comfort of being with your husband and they could say goodbye. I know Blue will never be forgotten & you'll always love him...but the new puppy soon to be born will bring you love & joy and in time your husband's grief will ease as he comes to love your new fur kid.
My heart goes out to you both...I hope you will find healing peace.

I def understand because my fur kids are my children. I have lost beloved fur kids and nursed them and would do anything for them....I had thought after my last devastating loss, in which I nursed him for over a year, (he died from liver cancer) that I would never have another, I thought I couldn't bear the agony again, of losing them.
Then the empty house, echoing with the murmers & shadows of my beloved made me realize that I will never run out of love...and I was so lonely and miserable so I adopted a shelter boy...about a year later, I adopted another boy, both American Shorthairs, now 5 and 6 years old and I adore them.
The second boy, I adopted only after seeing him on the shelter's website! I called them & they claimed he was too skittish & freaked out to be adopted & that 3 prospective families had returned him...and they said if I took him, they'd leave his bio up on their website since I'd most likely take him back. I said NO WAY! I love for LIFE and it will work out! So I brought him home and he was terrified and insecure, hid himself for a week beneath my bed, where I provided food & water and patiently waited for him to decide when to emerge. One day as we were watching a movie, suddenly he peeked out and slowly, hesitantly worked his way toward the living room archway and watched us. We made no sudden moves but talked to him & coaxed him. A few nights later I awakened to him snuggled up to me in bed and he's been a total Momma's boy ever since and my constant companion. That was over 4 years ago!
We never run outta love to give and once we've been owned by fur kids, there's no turning back!

May God bring you & your husband inner peace, comfort & healing.

Luv
Critter

Thank you so much and I was right, she is in labor now so I got a crate and fixed her up a nest and the only problem is I may not be able to let go of any of them if its more then a couple. Hubby will accept a pup from her because he already loves her (and my sis Is owner of the daddy) wants a little girl.
I hope people don't think bad of me but I want to let both my baby girls (both 3) be a momma and then have them fixed. I want their blood line to continue, not for profit but for me. So its looks like one down and one to go. I will not sell any, and the only people that will get a baby of mine is going to have to prove to me they don't believe in throwaway pets. I plan to breed my salt and pepper with sis's black mini schnauzer then get her fixed too. They both have qualities you rarely find in dogs that I want to keep and I am sure sis will want one of them too if there is more then one. I read the first litter of the mini's are usually just one, time will tell. Looks like our home will be crawling with new life soon
.
Looks like Blackie will be getting married to both my babies, Bella and Sassy.
