I'm glad this is all working out, and now you will have a well trained dog sitter for the future, too!

Good luck with everything.

That is such good news Billye
.

I'm glad that they are adjusting well to the sitter and getting used to her. Knowing that your dogs are well care for and comfortable will reduce a lot of your stress when it comes time to go to Mayo.

Take care,
Liz

Default Thanks for the help

Your advice really helped. Leaving my 'babies' was soooo hard. We were so homesick for them. I called the sitter every day and sometimes twice a day. My little Rio never did get friendly with her. He has a vision problem we learned about when he got older. He doesn't focus well. So he spent the time hiding from her and she had to put his food as close to him as she could and then back away. He wouldn't go outside either. Fortunately he is well trained to the puppy pads.

We were so anxious to get home to them. When we came in the back door they were startled and it took a minute for them to come to us. And when they did, we got so many kisses. My little Cami started one of those inward sneezes that absolutely terrify me and I scooped her up to stroke her throat. We carried her outside with the other two following us and sat down on the edge of our little deck where they could all get to us. We were smothered with wet kisses, and very excited little dogs. We didn't have enough hands to pet them it seemed. Rio ran in a circle around us stopping to pee on every blade of grass to mark the circle around us as his. So funny. Copper stood on his little hind legs and begged to be picked up continuously.
And when Cami finally relaxed from the sneezes she just relaxed all over and sagged into me.

So it all ended with Cami sagged into me, Copper being picked up and held and Rio marking the territory and running back to us for more kisses and strokes continuously.

When they all settled down and seemed to get back to the business of dogs being in the outdoors, my husband and I looked at each other and I burst into tears and his eyes got very moist. It was just so good to be home and surrounded with so much love after all the abuse and discomfort I suffered.
Nothing like furry babies.

Thanks again so much.

Billye,

I have been following your progress on the thread in the PN forum. It sounds like you had a very long and tiring trip, and I'm so glad to hear that you are home now, and I am especially glad to hear that your fur-babies did so well while you were gone!

Nothing is more special than being greeted by the fur-babies after a long trip. It makes coming home so special, and it always fills my heart with love to know that my "kids" missed me and love me so much.

I hope that your pain levels start reducing now that you are home and can sleep in your own bed and be comfortable in your own home....,and I really really hope that the trip to Mayo has been helpful for your health.

Take care - and Welcome home
.

Liz

Default Thanks

Thanks Liz,
It is great to be home. I have to go back probably in the early Summer timeframe and we now have more time to get the pups used to my sitter. It was sooooo hard to leave them and I worried constantly about them. But it looks like it worked out well.

Nothing like fur-babies love,

Billye

Default What a touching reunion!

I can almost see that scene now...in my mind's eye!

Poor babies, they didn't know what was going on.

Glad they are happy now! (now you remember this the next time one of them
does a naughty!

) LOL

Default Mrs. D, you are right

They are getting away with murder. My little boy, Rio can do no wrong in my husband's eyes. I think he hasn't been out of his lap since we got home.

Default Glad everything is going to work

Hi Billy,

I'm glad everything worked for the sitter and the dogs. I know you'll feel much better knowing that your babies are well taken care of. I also have a problem getting someone to come and feed my animals when we go on vacation, out of town for any reason so my sister who loves cats and dogs comes to feed all my animals. They tolerate her better than the neighbors feeding them but one time when she couldn't feed them I had to resort to the neighbors coming in. I have had to board them but hate to do that as they are so used to being in their own beds and comfortable with each other in the house. I have a few outdoor cats that are O.K to be fed but the indoor cats I have to really go to a lot of effort for them. Its worth it though as they are my kids since I don't have children. Since not too many people visit us except family its hard to get them used to people.
.

I'm glad everything worked out for you.

Lynn
