Hi I am new to the site and am trying to find information on medical treatment from anyone from the uk. I am presently on Pregabalin after trying various other things including gabapentin. The Pregabalin doesnt do much to help and I tolerate it very well. The pains are getting worse which is affecting my wrists and hands even more now and doing simple things like using a knife and fork are becoming difficult at times. I would like to hear from anyone in the uk who has this condition who has been using the same drugs and who can offer advice on any other treatment that has helped.

The DRUGS you are mentioning do not heal neuropathy. They only mask symptoms. Whatever is causing the problems continues, and escalates and the drugs stop working or people cannot tolerate increasing doses.

I invite you to read our PN forum, and subforum, to see the many causes and interventions that may help you find your trigger, and then treat the CAUSE so your nerves may heal. That is the only long range solution available now.

IVIG which is very expensive is used to combat some autoimmune inflammatory fast progressing neuropathies. It is the only DRUG out there with healing potential.

Pain relievers, anti-seizure meds like pregabalin and gabapentin do not change anything, or heal. They mask symptoms only.

Thankyou for that information. Since I was last on the site I have tried more drugs that have had little effect including morphine for I now have a slipped disk too. The nerve pain is much worse and pain clinics keep changing my medicine which does not help. I have tried duloxetine morphine imipromine and now I am on mirtazapine. I still have chronic pain that is now affecting me in every way including lack of sleep and struggling to cope at work. I have yet another doc appointment as the pain is becoming worse.
I am sick of being put on antidepressants that are supposed to help with chronic pain. My prolapsed disk is not bad enough yet for an operation as I do not have severe enough yet pain!

It is good that you found this forum. I agree, drugs do not heal. My doctors do know that, but many do not know what to do since they are often taught in med. school that nerves do not heal.

Getting the right dose and brands of supplements that DO heal and also cutting way back on sugar, exercising for the microcirculation in the smallest of nerves, and staying away from toxins is important.

Antioxidents in food and supplements will help to clean up the toxins and oxidation. Nerves need all of these things to heal.

Since being on here last I have been withdrawn from morphine and duloxetine and put onto oxy norm then taken off and then triple dose of amytriptaline which did nothing and now they have put me back onto duloxetine and given me paacetamol which has never helped with any kind of pain whatsoever. I am being referred back to pain clinic who said if the immipromine didnt work then I could be referred to a psychologist who deals with different types of pain relief than the doctors do. I suffer from a lot of side effects taking all these drugs and get little pain relief from them and am now suffering side effects of the duloxetine all over again! I feel like I have been shoved from pillar to post between all these docs who sometimes make you feel that its all in your head...if only it was I could switch it all off!
