Not such happy new from here in NJ
Hi all! Not been here much, between work and hectic home, and still dealing with reprecussions, aftermath, paperwork of my daughter's wreck that totaled one of our 2002 cars :( ...Dealing w/ my BP daughter who has made great strides in the past few years but still is resisting the hought of making real, lasting but important changes in her life. My problems always seen to take a back seat.
Now MY DEVELOPING problem...I have noticed, over the past 6 months or so, that my lower back pain, and into my legs, etc, has been increasing. I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago, and it showed all levels in my lumbar above the fusion level have bulging discs, whicH were'nt there before. I don't plan on doing much for that, will only have another lumbar surgery if my life, or my legs, are in danger of something awful, besides pain. Then, on Wednesday of this past week, my hubby and I were sitting in our We were sitting in our car, waiting at a red light after leaving work and, BOOM, we were hit from the back, rear-ended, as they say. There were 2 other cars, the one car hit the SUV behind us, and then the SUV smashed into us. It was quite a hit, altho the rear bumper is merely cracked. So here it is, 3 days later, and my whole back feels like it's out of whack - any bending movement, one way or the other, and OUCH I get a shooting pain. I'm only talking about a bend a couple of inches one way or another. It's not just my back, but my hips, knees, neck hurt too, but the back area is the WORST!! I don't know what to do now....I do have a PM appt on Monday, and this will be the chief topic of the day, but HELP - I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THIS, besides sitting in my recliner, or laying down, FORGET doing any housework this week-end I just can't deal w/ this again! SUGGESTIONS???? WELL, AT LEAST IT'S A WEEKEND :( Hope you all have better plans! Hugs, Jacquie |
((((((Jacquie)))))),
http://chocolate-moose.p5.org.uk/MIN...bears-mini.gif I'm so sorry :( Sounds like you've got a major hurtin' going on. Hopefully, if you take it easy this weekend, it'll all cool down. Gentle hugs (and love). Barb http://chocolate-moose.p5.org.uk/MIN...aresmilley.gif |
Honestly, with your allready bulging disks, I would suggest you go to the ER.
I am so sorry honey. I understand you don't like the thought of surgery or docs or anything but you really need an xray. (Plus you sound like me when I got whiplash) BUT the big deal here is what did the crash do to your existing back problems? You know how serious this could be. Please be safe rather than sorry. Please? |
Er
I to think you should head to the ER Jacquie,
They can give you antiinflamorties and anti spasms meds strong enought to nip it. The Toradol and Valoium combination I use for our family flares and it gets things calmed down. The toradol as an anti inflamatory, and valium for spasms, kick butt. Also, then it is documented too. When there is a cycle grip of the spasms and pain like this it is tough to beat on your own. The other thing is if tehre is a hot tub jaquizzie nearby I wuld sit in it to a prune shape. I think if you can get the toradol, like few trips to doctors and er for our family it was the releif we needed to even stand....or move. I hope things calm down soon. I don't know why bad things have to happen to people that so many depend on.... Hugs to you, and do get attention before Monday morning roles around. Di |
Oh J - just what you need. Get to the ER ASAP. You already have had back surgery so it is important you go.
Plus being in an accident it is always good to go to the ER, you were rear-ended and well you know. Thinking of you......REST please go to the ER. Take Care,,,,,,Nikko:hug: |
Jacquie, I thought I had answered this yesterday.
Anyway, how are you feeling today? I hope you can get some relief. befuddled2 |
Thanks for all of your advice and support. Believe it or not, I feel much better today. Maybe it was the fact that I spent the day just laying around, and I used heat and ice, alternately. I feel just about back to they way I felt before the accident which, of couse, is never pain-free, by any stretch of the imagination  . I still do have my pain management appt tomorrow afternoon, so I will discuss the sitch with him, too. It really DID feel more muscular than anything else, but I just freaked out, I guess....
Sorry for the false alarm, I'm hoping all is almost as well as before ;) . Hugs, Jacquie |
Jacquie,
Glad to hear your feeling better today. befuddled2 |
You still have the accident and other guy's insurance company to deal with; I worked these claims for almost 30 yrs, the best advise on injury claims is to absolutely wait until you are fully recovered, then wait a good deal longer, generally, the longer you wait, the more anybody is willing to pay you. Companies hate to have these claims waiting around on their books. And are anxious to settle if you wait long enough, say 18 months or more. Save all your medical bills. Check with your agent to see if you have med pay, if so, your company will pay the bills, and subrogate against the other company, to collect everything back from them. But wait to settle. Add up your medical bills and multiply times 4 and that is about the minimium your claim is worth. An attorney will take 1/3, but now you know enough to settle by yourself, and if people start hassling you, threaten to call the insurance commissioner in your state. He has the power to really harmful things to insurance companies, and they do not like to have a complaint filed.

((((((Jacquie)))))),
So glad you're feeling better  Michael's right -- hold off a bit and make sure everything's OK before signing any paperwork. When you're dealing with a 'fragile' back, even a small accident can cause problems. Hopefully, all the CRAP for this entire year is over with for you and your family -- ENOUGH ALREADY!! Oh, I love the picture of your grandbaby. What a sweetie-pie -- you are so lucky!! BIG gentle hugs (and love). Barb http://chocolate-moose.p5.org.uk/MINIS/flowers3.gif |
