Seeing the eye surgeon tomorrow eeek!

I'm so nervous! What if she tells me that my optic nerves are not healing? what if she tells me they are both atrophied and curling still? what if they are still pale? What if my vision is still 20/400?

When I had this huge attack everyone told me I had to wait 6 to 8 weeks to wait for the nerve to either heal or not heal, but to run off to the eye surgeon would do me no good, as she would give me the same advice. So, tomorrow is the day, and I have put so much weight into this visit, so many hopes, so many what-ifs...

say a little prayer for me. No matter what she says, it will be ok. I know that, but I cant help but be so anxious to hear if I have any healing in those nerves.

I hope you are using B12 to help remyelinate!

5mg daily of methylcobalamin on an empty stomach.

Abstract

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and vitamin B12 deficiency share common inflammatory and neurodegenerative pathophysiological characteristics. Due to similarities in the clinical presentations and MRI findings, the differential diagnosis between vitamin B12 deficiency and MS may be difficult. Additionally, low or decreased levels of vitamin B12 have been demonstrated in MS patients. Moreover, recent studies suggest that vitamin B12, in addition to its known role as a co-factor in myelin formation, has important immunomodulatory and neurotrophic effects. These observations raise the questions of possible causal relationship between the two disorders, and suggest further studies of the need to close monitoring of vitamin B12 levels as well as the potential requirement for supplementation of vitamin B12 alone or in combination with the immunotherapies for MS patients.

Cyano form is not a good idea...there are reports the cyanide portion, affects the optic nerve in some patients. MethylB12 is active and safer.

You should aim for a blood level over 1000 to get good results.

I hope your visit is going to show some healing progress!

Wow, mrsD, you sure do sound like you know what you’re talking about. You are exactly the kind of person I’d like to have around when I am going through a rough spot.

Dejibo, you’ve been in my prayers. You seem to be doing well under the circumstances. You know what would be a real “win/win” outcome for you? If you got your sight back, AND you still got to keep the dog.

Today is the day!

I woke with yet another headache.
I have my list of questions.
I have my list of forms that need to be signed
Dog form, school form. blind training form.
I have my husband as the keeper of the list to be sure our questions are answered.

im so nervous. I want badly for her to tell me my optic nerve is pink and plump again, maybe it will heal. If she tells me its still white, and shrunken, im going to be upset.

So, cross your fingers and toes, im about to hit the road. I have several appointments to get to while I am in town, like cat food and such, so we dont waste gas going back and forth. Say a little prayer for me.
