Luminosity game for some brain exercise
Does the game Luminosity help with memory and attention ? How has been your experience so far?
|
The question is more "Does Lumosity help people with PCS with memory and attention ?" That is a big question. There is no valid research in this area. It may help people who have become lazy thinkers.
Some have used it for cognitive therapy. Rosetta Stone has a free version of Fit Brains http://www.fitbrains.com/user/games/ |
Pardon me I misspelled the name of the game .. Thanks Mark for your valuable input .

Its helped my memory some but not my attention. Its very similiar in the approach of cognitive therapy. But id take cognitive therapy over lumosity any day of the week. I feel lumosity should be used after cognitive therapy so you can keep your brain active.

I did APT training with my occupational therapist which was very helpful for my focus, attention and memory. I use the FitBrains free app also things like text twist and arithmetic drills apps.
I use these games to give my brain a light workout but they also reflect the level of my fatigue - good days I get spectacular scores and bad days the scores are Bad. |

There are many other games out there - look at games for seniors - you may find something you find useful. |
Kevbo, how is cognitive therapy different from Lumosity games?
I have noticed that as I recover, I am getting better at the games. In other words, my performance on the games is a reflection my recovery. However, I am not sure if the games are actually helping with my recovery. |

I looked at the games in my windows media center and some of the kids games do exactly the same thing as some of the FitBrains so thats another area to look at. I'm not too proud to play with the kiddies!
I found a mahjong game (also on windows media) that is easy on my eyes (burlap background and simple patterns on the tiles) so I play that alot. It helps me hone my strategizing skills and the patterns range from really easy to hard. |
