Cognitve & Speech
Has anyone experienced either cognitive/memory symptoms or any speech difficulties? I've had both in the time leading up to pn dx. My memory and executive function have declined noticeably this past year. I've also had increased sloppiness of speech, flubbing words, transposing letter sounds, and difficulty find the 'right word' that I really ought to know. Maybe it's just aging, but the timing and effect are pretty obvious.

What you have experienced might arise from anxiety associated with PN rather than being causal.

I have felt for decades that Everyone would do better by taking Grape Seed Extract. I have no cognitive issues and I'm 81 this year and been taking it since I was 57.
Grape Seed Extract is known to reduce amyloid plaque on the brain. There are many links on this and here is one: Grape Seed Extract May Reduce Cognitive Decline Associated With Alzheimer's Disease -- ScienceDaily There is SO MUCH info on the Wonders of Grape Seed Extract and our health and improvement of it. |
Thanks for all the responses! I think anxiety/depression plays a role, but I've had that in the past and this feels a bit different...My shorter term memory is quite poor, have real difficulty remembering things a week ago or so, slow recall...who knows? I do think I have neuropathy in most of my skeletal muscles at this point, and some weird bodily sensations too, so maybe it's in the brain a bit too? It seems that neurology is the 'dismal science' of the medical world....so little is really known!

A friend who has dealt with they say Ideopathic neuropathy for some 30 yrs from decades on statins is doing much better since on grape seed extract now for 8 yrs or so. She's a staunch pharma person but is sold and even has her late 50's daughter taking it for overall general health.
You could be happily surprised with feeling better overall. So many I feel could be overall better in total health. |
Caroline, does your friend have axonal neuropathy, or more small fiber-demylenaton? I looked up some info grape seed extract and they talk about diabetic neuropathy benefits, so I was wondering if anyone with weakness has benefited from gse. I may still try it for my brain, I need all the help I can get!

I don't know what kind she has, she probably doesn't know. Doc told her for years it was ideopathic but after talking to her and she finally put it together it from the statins.
There are posts all over this forum on Grape Seed Extract, other members posted about it over the years. |

how much do you take a day |
I take Most Days, 200 mg two times daily. Make sure one takes enough for their body weight. If a very thin person then less could do the job.
For the skeptics the main reason I got on this wonder back in 1995, we were told MAY prevent cancer. I'll be 81 this year and doing well re: any dread diseases. Grape Seed Ex or Pycnogenol can do SO MUCH for our health in general and when it reduces neuropathy issues, even better. I shop for quality and price and have found Olympian Labs to be a good value and quality. |
