ok...never mind. the sun isn't up here yet. i thought i'd give you my happy ole yappy self to welcome you this morning. :D ain't that nice? you thought you"d have a peaceful morning until i logged on. HA! fooled ya huh? :p

so where have y'all been? hiding out in chemars birdhouse by the pond? playing in alffe's mud puddles? ahhhh...catching a tan with lara!!!

Alffe 01-11-2007 03:44 AM

You mean my frozen mud puddles don't you? :D
Deux? Je meurs de faim!

~scrabble 01-11-2007 09:49 AM

I'm coping with another snowstorm and I have to dig us out from the pile of drifting snow at my front door this morning. I just checked and our superintendent of schools says they are still open ...

Idealist 01-12-2007 01:21 AM

Hmmmmm..... You know, depending on how you look at it, I could be either a really late night-owl or a really early early-bird. Hey! Maybe I could be both! Or would that be cheating? :D

Scrabble, my kids would just LOVE to get some of that snow you're shoveling around. 'Course, I'm sure you'd love to give it to them, huh? :p

Heck, I'd settle for one of Alffe's frozen mud puddles. But I didn't know that early birds had their own strange language. Must be a bit like those Canadian night-owls...

~scrabble 01-12-2007 03:25 AM

mais qui ....... :icon_wink:

Alffe 01-12-2007 03:33 AM

~KELLWANTSANSWERS~ 02-08-2007 09:07 AM

Poly voo..LOL
I have no idea whati just said:p
Just wanna fit in with the biligual people:o
Good Morning to all the early birds:Yawn:
Scrabble i hope you are careful out there today..
We had no school here for 2 days this week because
of freezing temps.
It's only 3 degrees here now.I heard on the radio that
it's more like 10 below with the wind chill..Yet schools are open today:confused:
I have a friend coming over for coffee later.I should go get myself dressed.
I hope everyone has a good day:hug:

Chemar 02-08-2007 09:25 AM

oooooohh brrrrrrr Kellie that is cooooooold:eek:

we are having "below normal" lows of 42deg here:o

and making lil ones go to school in those temps :Dunno:

hope you and all the other birdies have a great day:grouphug:

Alffe 02-17-2007 05:15 AM

Well our temperature rose all night and I woke up to16 degrees! That's warmer than it's been all week..:D We are looking forward to one of our daughters arriving with her family....I told her it's too cold to do much, we'd just eat and watch movies....she said it sounded good!

So I woke up with a racing mind....need to scrubb kitchen floor, dust, wash thow rugs.....make meringues...can't wait to see them!!! :grouphug:

Chemar 02-17-2007 08:55 AM

chirrrrrp brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It is a frosty morning here in central florida and altho I know 31 deg probably sounds warm to those of you in the teens and below...for us swampy birds it is cold!!!! Had to cover up all the tropical plants in my garden last night, and bring in the orchids etc. Our rooftops and lawns are all crisply white after the freeze last night, where our temps dipped into the upper 20s

Alffe, having your daughter and family snug at home with you sounds just wunnerful:p
now
share those meringues pleeez:D

Chemar 02-17-2007 09:00 AM

ps Just read a story in our local paper of how someone in a flashy white SUV was driving around the parts of downtown Orlando last night where it is known that the area homeless gather to sleep, and handing out thick coats to anyone who needed them.......sure warmed me to read that!:grouphug:

Alffe 02-17-2007 10:13 AM

Well that warmed my heart too Chemar. What would you like on your meringues? We're gonna have whipped cream w/raspberries, blueberries and a raspberry sauce. :D I had hoped to offer a choice of that or banana cream pie but Mr.Alffe ate all of that.

Idealist 02-17-2007 06:25 PM

I liked that story too, Chemar. That's just the kind of hand-to-hand charity that I admire the most. No middle-men, or CEO fees. Just a helpful gift from one person to another!

BTW, Alffe, I'll have the whipped cream. With blueberries, raspberries and a raspberry sauce...:D

Lara 02-17-2007 07:41 PM

brunch time.

chirp chirp. late bird here.

Chemar 02-18-2007 07:36 AM

oooh what was on the brunch menu Lara:p

such a spectacular sunrise here this morning!

I feel wonderfully refreshed after a good sleep....have been getting less than my required amount lately as my work load was a bit heavy and I have been "burning the candle at both ends"

ok...time for my second cuppa tea

have a chirpy day birdies:D

wishfulthinking 02-18-2007 05:10 PM

I'd rather sleep!! LOL!
Wish

Alffe 02-28-2007 05:04 AM

Ok, up and attum. Whole house smells like garlic..what to do. what to do. :D
Company due this afternoon....gotta clean, dust, cook and freshen the air. :p

Lara 02-28-2007 05:28 AM

Good morning, good morning.

Nothing wrong with the smell of garlic.
You could bake a ginger cake, that'll change the smell in the house lol. :)

then again...

You could boil a pot of water.
Remove it from the heat and add sliced lemons and copious quantities of parsley.
Infuse it for about 15 minutes and then drink the "tea".
Eat the parsley
Don't eat the lemons.

After that you won't worry about the smell of garlic. :D

Alffe 02-28-2007 06:13 AM

Great idea Lara but where does one get copious quantities of parsley at this hour of the morning? :D somehow I don't think dried parsley flakes and a plastic squeeze lemon will get the job done! :p

I have failed once again to make garlic paste, in fact I only succeeded one time..should have quit while I was ahead. The first failure became garlic soup...the second failure became garlic ice cubes for future use in stews, etc.

Mr.Alffe wants me to turn it into soup once again...whatever it eventually ends up being will have to wait...(the whole pot is in the freezer) but the odor lingers on.

Lara 02-28-2007 06:23 AM

What about Pesto?

How much garlic do you actually have? lol Sounds a lot! On second thoughts making pesto wouldn't be much use if you have heaps. Gotta go here. If you freeze it you can do all sorts of things with it later,. Have a good day there! sheesh, Summer is technically over here tomorrow. Can't believe it. Where did it go???

*moon night!

p.s. if you baked the garlic in the oven to make the paste, make sure you leave the cloves whole while you're baking them and don't split them up into individual segments.

Chemar 02-28-2007 07:32 AM

chirp chirp.....are those garlic worms I smell:D How I love the aroma of garlic in the morning:p

and how reassuring to know all the vampires will be gone ;)

Alffe
if you have any incense that can help with the smell, or a few drops of an aromatic oil like lavender, rosemary etc

also could put out lots of bowls of baking soda to absorb it

hth :)

~KELLWANTSANSWERS~ 02-28-2007 08:41 AM

Alffe
Get the pot outta the freezer!!:D
HeeHee
I use febreeze when i have an overpowering smell in the house.
The air freshner and the one that takes away bad odors..both are
VERY good products!
Be sure and put a fresh box of baking soda in the freezer.Otherwise you will smell it everytime you open the freezer door.Lord have mercy that stuff is potent:eek:
I hope you have a nice visit this afternoon with your company.:)
Oh,how i would just love to try some of that food you talk of making all the time:p
I bet you are a marvelous cook!

Alffe 02-28-2007 08:56 AM

:D How right you are about the freezer! LOLOL...just opened the chest and 'bout fell over.

Chemar....a rose by any other name...............

I'm burning so many candles it looks like church on Christmas eve....

Curious 02-28-2007 06:34 PM

well alffe...you are safe from vampire's. :p

Chemar 03-10-2007 09:09 AM

sooooooooooooo

with all the vampires gone.............

is it safe for lil early birdies to come out now

chirpy chirp:p

michael178 03-10-2007 08:28 PM

I left all the frigid weather, when I swim in the local indoor heated pool and heard people complaining of the cold weather (40 degrees this winter) I'd smile. When asked, I'd say that I came from Minnesota and it's 20 below there this morning.

But really guys, you know that you live longer in that frigid weather, don't you.
Must have to get in a numerical quota of saying 'it's a nice day" before you die..or something like that.

Curious 03-12-2007 04:14 PM

lol....michael....i lived in minnesota years ago. they live longer cuz they are freeze dried. ;) to cold to move around much, nothing wears out.

got that one from my uncle...who still lives there.

Lara 03-12-2007 04:21 PM

Still early here I suppose. Throw me some of that "frigid". Exhausted from two days of almost 100F temperatures. LOL Ahhhh. Summer lingers longer. :D

Lara 03-14-2007 03:08 PM

Alffe 03-18-2007 04:41 AM

ROFL...when it warms up I'll have to take this computer outside and play that at the bird feeders. Our group would go nuts trying to find them. :D

I miss our old coffee pot...it had a timer and we'd wake up to the smell of fresh coffee everymorning. Now I have to wait for Mr.Alffe to get up, make it and bring me a cup. What a guy! ;)

FeelinGoofy 03-18-2007 09:16 PM

How cool is that link Lara!!!!!!!!! i love it!!!!!!!!

Julie 03-20-2007 01:09 PM

I don't want to be an early bird. I want to go back to being a Spring Break bird!

Lara 03-20-2007 06:46 PM

I'm a birdseed for brunch bird this morning.

Sorry you obviously have just finished some time off school there, Julie? I always loved it when the children were home from school. There was so much less stress.

Alffe and goofy, glad you enjoyed the Kookaburra call again. I reckon if you play that to your birds there alffe, they'll totally freak out.

Don't you just love our amazing earth. Even when terrible things are happening, I'm reminded all the time of how beautiful she is. I woke up very early this morning at daybreak and sat outside for a little while and watched the sunrise. It was just like any usual pretty sunrise for ages, then all of a sudden the sun hit the clouds in just the right way, and the horizon and sky turned gold. It only lasted a few minutes. I love our pink sunsets too. Some times of the year the whole sky is pink and blue. It's so beautiful.

sure agree with you there Lara:p

Alffe 03-22-2007 06:58 AM

cleaning out the old nests here...hoping a family of wrens will move in. I can't think of anything lovelier than hearing a wren singing.

*grins at Idealist....am not hanging curtains or waxing their little floors. :D

Alffe 03-25-2007 02:40 AM

it seems the night owls have all retired and I'm up a tad early even for me. :D

Lara???? You around?

Lara 03-25-2007 02:58 AM

A tad early? yikes. very early

I wasn't here but must have heard you calling. lol

You alright?

Chemar 03-25-2007 08:12 AM

chirrup!!!....no fair.....you two extra-early birds have finished all the wormies!

:D

Alffe 03-25-2007 08:22 AM

I can always count on you Lara. *grin
Chemar, I ate a few worms and went back to bed. Saved you a big fat one. :D
