Hi Hannah!!
I have Egyptian Cotton sheets!!! I love them!!! The ones I have are 1000 thread count... or so the tag says... They are on the pricey side... I think I spent about $80.00 for the set. (fitted, flat, two pillow cases) I got mine from overstock.com they had the best prices... My mom sent me some that are 800 count and very nice too... she said she got them from Costco... she wouldn't tell me the price... but knowing mom...she got them for a bargain. I haven't had any problems with them "knotting" or whatever it's called. I hope you find something that works for you... Abbie |
I use both Egyptian cotton as noted above and the jersey knit (think t-shirt) sheets. The knit sheets are for when I can't bear the cold of the Egyptian cotton; the cotton are for when the cool actually feels soothing.
I hope you can find something that works for you. Sleeping with this condition is difficult enough without sensory issues interfering even more. |
At least 300 Thread Count
I have heard that you want to get sheets that are at least 300 Thread Count to prevent the knotting.
But, I'm like Abasaki. I prefer 1000 thread count. Bed Bath and Beyond have some great sheets that are 1000 TC, but they are definitely on the pricey side. |
I got mine at Bed Bath & Beyond and I know I was looking for high thread count but i dont recall the tag has 100%cotton. They are so soft. That reminds me of the nightmare when i went to Fla to see a pain Dr. I stayed with my Grandmother who had pilly sheets and both legs flared up and i wanted to come out of my skin! Now I know if i travel i have to bring my own sheets. momof4

Bamboo
My daughter got married last year and registered for "bamboo sheets." and I thought "OUCH! - Bamboo?" all I could think of was a fishing pole!
Well, they somehow shred the baby bamboo plants into a very soft fiber. Wow, are these comfortable. Although not an issue for me, I guess these are also hypoallergenic. The next time I treat myself to some new linens, I am going to try some. I have not heard how they last as far as pilling, though. Does anyone have any long-term experience with bamboo sheets and longevity? Mike |
Ok I know I am weird but I sleep on top of a comforter. I can't stand sheets unless they are microfleece and since I live in FL it is too hot.

Hi Hannah,
Believe it or not, I bought Egyptian Cotton sheets at Walmart. They are really soft and wash well. Remember if you do not want sheets to get the balls on them, you have to wash them seperately all by themselves. That will keep them from getting the balls. The sheets at Walmart, only cost $35.00 for a queen set. Check it out. Sandy |
By the way, I had posted just prior to Christmas a website that sells bamboo shirts and clothing. Man, do they feel good!
It's at: http://www.bambooclothes.com/ |

Even though bamboo is marketed as the "GREEN" echo friendly sheet it does have chemicals in it to turn the bamboo into fibers. They are also being advertised as temperature regulating but as I have found they cannot keep up with the RSD changes. Maybe for a normal person? To me they are just another sheet with a marketing ploy soft as cashmere, smooth as silk with the price tag.

Good Thread
Love purchasing new towels, pillows & sheets. Such a great feeling since us patients use the bed so much. I too have issues with sheets, the burning, prickly, heat issues. Posted above for Mike about bamboo sheets.
Sometimes I have them put on silk, then cotton, then sateen. Can no longer tolerate flannel. Its always a game of what is going to be kind to me today. Have found the sateen sheet still has enough cotton in it for absorbtion with the sateen luxurious, silky soft feel. Wash in cold water though as not to strip the fibers. eBay carries Ralph Lauren sateen sheets at affordable & discontinued prices. |
bassman...
Of course you thought "fishing pole"! My husband and I have a bass charter business. What else is bamboo good for? Kim |
Just a note,
You can buy "trimmers" for the pills. I had one made by Remington. Wifey has it now. Oh well. But, I'm sure Amazon, or a dept. store of some sort would have them. They're like a big norelco circular razor, and you just run it over the fabric (of any kind), and it trims those little pills off! Great! pete |
tempur-pedic are the best sheets i have found so far but they do cost a lot. i have 2 sets of the 420count egypt cotton that feels like 600count. these feel twice as soft as the top brand i bought at walmart. i bought these because i have an adjustable bed and i dont like the sheets wrinkling or coming up in the corners. these sheets have built in straps to stay in the corner and not come up. i have ordered another set of the pima cotton, i think its 320count to see if i can tollerate the feel. they are about 70bucks cheaper than the 420count. i was told from several crps people to stay above 600count. some brands lie about their count to compete against better sheets so beware of that. another company makes sheets with silver in them which helps with temperature and odor and has corner straps but costs even more than temperpedic so i did not get them. if it did not matter about the corner straps to me , i would go with 1000count sheets from overstock.com as they would cost at least half of what i paid.
some bamboo sheets are very cool but they cost 300 a set. i have to change sheets at least 3 times a week due to sweating from crps2 so i did not care about cost since i am bed bound almost 24 hours per day. |
