Forum Requests
Hi DocJohn
I have been hearing from a number of people who are seeking a safe haven to be able to discuss their struggles with OCD, and learn about ways to help with it Could you possibly add a forum for it here? thanks again for providing this community for us. Cheri |
While you're adding, could you please consider adding a Vitamin Deficiency board. Having had three years of neurological problems related to a B12 deficiency, I sort of have a soft spot for the topic. Not to mention, my 'home forum' is the Gluten Sensitivity/Celiac Disease forum, the symptoms of which are all about vitamin deficiency.
This was a newer but relatively active forum on OBT, and it kept the vitamin talk out of some the other forums (where it sometimes annoyed people). Thanks! Also, perhaps you might want to sticky this thread for a month or so, so that all further requests can just be kept in one spot. This thread has a nice title for that :). Cara |
I would also very much appreciate a Vitamin Forum on this site.
Gillian |
Maybe not just vitamins, but supplements in general..... vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, etc :)
As I have learned with my son dealing with both Tourettes and Crohn's....it is frequently the entire nutritional approach that makes the biggest impact! |

a suggestion, a thought, an idea, whatever you want to call it
I have had this idea rolling around in my head for a while...
My idea is to add a new catagory (right now for catagories we have General, Health Conditions A-L, Health Conditions M-Z). My suggestion is for a new catagory titled Non-Health Related Forums or Off Topic Forums (or something like that). In that catagory, I think the current.... Social Chat Computers and Technology Sanctuary for Spiritual Support could all be moved there... In addition I have ideas for 2 new forums for the non-health related catagory... 1. The Media Room - for discussions about TV, Movies, Radio, Magazines, Books, Sports, Celebrities, etc... (currently, these types of discussions are scattered around the forums, having one forum would allow people to discuss these things with a larger group and would increase the likleyhood of finding other people who want to discuss a particular TV show or movie). 2. Life in General (or something like that) - for discussions about current events (global, national, state, or local) and day to day life (dealing with neighbors, buying your first house, advice on raising kids, how to buy a good mattress, favorite restaurants, etc....) And if you decide that any political discussions would be allowed, another forum in the Non-Health Related catagory could be Politics. So that's my idea. I have no clue whether it's a good idea or a bad idea, but I figured I would post it and you can all share feedback/opinions about whether you think it's a good or bad idea. Liz |
Coping with the loss of a loved one - forum needed
We need a forum for Coping with the loss of a loved one.
|
yes, please ditto....
Our vitamin forum at OBT was very valuable. The new information shared
there about Vitamin D and the new research on raising it RDA was a good example. One title could be Nutrients/supplements Also, a Medications board would be nice too, since people often have drug experiences/side effects/questions or data on new drugs to share. Thanks for the consideration! |
We also need a Coping with the loss of a loved one forum too.
|
that sounds like a good suggestion Liz.
grouping those non medical topics together like that. |
Great Idea....
While all of this suggestion is great, I personally would love a "media room"...
I do not feel comfortable discussing my private life on the internet, but I do enjoy Off Topic threads. Especially the Media Room, as I read alot. I've learned alot from Computers and Technology too. Again, Liz... these ideas are great I think! |
Yes they are great, I can see them all being used frequently.
All for it, all the best, |
Cerebral Palsy Forum
Could we have either a Cerebra Palsy forum or a CP/movement disorders forum?
(As there were a small number of people who were provided for by the CP forum - the dystonia forum was used by very few, and the only other forum that discusses the same range of needs as the CP one did is Child Neurology - which isn't for adults). |
There is a Parkinsons forum here and the man who has written this is one of the best. All you want to know about dystonia is here.
Good luck to you http://forums.braintalk2.org/showthread.php?t=1018 |
Thanks - I had looked at the Parkinson's forum already (I've had generalised dystonia for anything from 13-17 years now, so I have a wide knowledge of the various drug/medical interventions, what works with me and what doesn't - and there are other more dystonia-focussed forums on the web).
The discussions on the CP forum were more based around equipment/lifestyle issues/ways to get around common issues, and with GD I have a lot more in common with the people who were frequenting that forum than the PD forum...partially because of age, but also because of the severity of my dystonia. Still crossing my fingers in hope, Swift |
Yes or just a Grief forum.
|
Excellent idea.
|
Yes to coping with grief. I am typical in having to periodically grieve my losses of mobility and perception to Parkinson's and now to degenerative arthritis. How do you say goodbye to the head of your left femur?
Jaye |
with a salute to it and a fond goodbye you bstd and a roaring hello to pain free movement.

Swift PS Also, after reading the dystonia info on the PD forum, that may apply to dystonia related to parkinson's, but there are inaccuracies as far as 'just' dystonia goes. |
Could we please add a Mitochondrial/ Metabolic Disease forum?
A few of us here have mitochondrial and metabolic diseases. Would it be at all possible to start a forum for this? thanks so much~! Ali
|
I second that motion. :) Dave

:D Mornin'chief!

<off_topic>
Chief? If that's the case, why am I at the bottom of the totem pole? <on_topic> |
ok...Captain. At least you could sail rund the world, take in some good food...and remember to pick up your friends on the way!:p
|
I'd also like to see the forum added...
|
Hi ColeysMom,
Now we have a threesome! :) Nice to meet you. Dave |
Hi again all
:D Please could Moose also put her fantastic sticky that she had back on it as well if we get a mito. forum.. I can't find it in cache and I have been looking honest.... Gillian |
Hi Gillian,
We now have a quorum for a forum. :D Dave |
ahhh hoping another old member will find her way here soon, found her e-mail in the depths of this dratted PC and managed to contact her..
Gillian |
Nice to meet you too...I mostly hung out in the autism & child neuro forums on BT1, but technically my son's issues, although reflect in autistic tendencies and other neuro issues, are metabolic in nature. As long as we keep him 'clean' he is symptom free. Poor kid will NEVER be able to lie about it!
He's been diagnosed with Fructose 1, 6 bisphosphatase deficiency, in turn PDD-NOS and seizure disorder. Thanks for the welcome! KJ |
DocJon, New forum request: Colloid Cyst
DocJon,
Is there a chance we could have a colloid cyst site here like the old BT had? I think many people with this problem could find some comfort and support from others, including myself, who have been through this ordeal. I think anyone who did a Google search would be directed to this site like the old one. Thanks so much John. I feel like I have lost touch with my old ccyst pals, Dodi |
can we also get a pet forum and a swap unused medical equipment?
|
Diabetes too.

Alzheimer's, Dementia & Caregivers
Maybe this is already hear and I just don't see it, but if not I would like to see a forum for the patient as well as the caregiver.
The symptoms of Alzheimer's and Dementia from aging or numerous other reasons are closely related. There are differences, but close enough to combine the 2. The caregiving issue is important, too little attention is given to the health of the caregiver and they get burned out in a hurry. Many times we will find ourselves doing both. I myself have several neuro issue's, but I have been caregiver to MIL who has Alzheimer's Disease. If enough people are interested enough to be a part of a forum like this please speak up. It would be helpful to me, but not if only 1 or 2 others take part. It's not easy taking care of another very sick person. Be honest with your self if you think about being part of a forum of this nature. If you can't take part it is certainly understandable if you don't have time to take anything else on. I would like to see every thing here helpfull. If not, then we need to put the space to a better use. thank you, Julia |
How about a forum for Free Medical Equipment/Services :D ? Pretty please.
... if nothing else, I got to see the Smilie that makes me smile :) ... |
