Update
Hey all, hope you're all doing well. I am getting by. We didn't buy a pool pass this year because the times we've tried to go to the big pool they've been at capacity. So we bought one of those octagonal pools we had before the pool pass. Hopefully it will get us through the summer. :)
Jackie is doing good. We've been working on math, addition and subtraction and what not. He's doing great. Mom is coming out to do respite mondays' and tuesday's and it's helping his attitude a lot. ;) He's in summer school and has two more weeks left. After that the regular school year begins August 9th. :D I hope you're all doing good. I started on a beta blocker a month ago and it's really helped nix my overwhelming anxiety isssues. I am so pleased. :D |
Dear Pam
thank you for the update thread! Glad to hear you guys are all doing well. heat is stifling isn't it. makes me wanna buy an octagonal pool... FOR THE LIVING ROOM! :D:D:D  ~ waves ~ |
Oh thank you for the update.
and it sounds like the beta blocker is helping!!!! yeah!!!!! happy for you:) bizi |
Dear Pam,
June was the hottest June on record in S. Florida.
May was the hottest month May on record GLOBALLY. Stay cool. That's all I have to say for now. :D M. |
Hi Pam
I have missed you. So glad Jackie is doing so well> I bet he is enjoying the pool Donna |
Well I am glad to say Mom is coming out today and I will observe her working with Jackie on the flashcards we've purchased. She is so good with him, and we give him raisins or cheese crackers for the reinforcer for him for when he gets five questions right and earns five tokens, he gets a small handful of raisins or a couple of cheese crackers. Works great for him too. He's actually getting his head around addition and subtraction AND sight words! I am really glad he's moving forward, it used to be thought that autistics couldn't learn, what a load of barnacles! My kid is capable of learning no matter what so called experts might have thought in the past, it doesn't mean it was true. :)
I missed you all, I should be around more but I can't promise I'll be posting like mad, kiddo only has two more weeks of summer school which is seven days of school and seven more days off, we go to his pdoc weds. and so he'll have that day off. We did the dental cleaning last Friday and he was awesome. I was RELIEVED that the dentist thought the lines in his front teeth were grooves and NOT cracks. THAT really concerned me, but i feel much better. Good to see you all, I'll check in again soon. :) |
Pam
It sounds very much like Jackie is maturing very much and learning lots at the same time. Good job you are doing. Its so nice to get good updates on him. Donna:grouphug: |
Dear Pam
that is a marvelous report on Jackie's progress! :) i am glad your mom is there to help and so good with him too. ~ waves ~ |
Dear Pammy,
This is so good to read!!! very happy for your family! bizi |
Thanks everyone. It might be summertime but it's really not that bad, I think my little boy is finally maturing in many ways and it's a joy to witness. We go shopping and he's such a big help to me. He's not putting my chair in the trunk yet, but only because I don't trust him to NOT catch the cords to the third brake light and rip them out in his enthusiasm to HELP mom....LOL! But if I'd let him he would do it. :)
|
Dear Pam,
Your mood sounds good here. I'm happy. M. |
Pam
Make sure you and your mom take lots of pictures of him helping you. These are things the world needs to see and know that autistic children do also. I also believe that we give our kids the wish to be who and what they are. So give yourself a good pat on the back. Donna |
Thanks Mari, I am glad to share good things for a change. :D It makes me happy too! :)
I will have to get some pics of him helping me that's a great idea! Thank you! He's a good boy and we're proud of him, he just has times where his impulses are real hard for him to control. But what kid has perfect impulse control at 13 right? :D |
Pam
You hit it on the nose. He is 13, a teenager. Wow, you have a true teenager. Have you ever realized how many parents of kids with disabilities don't see the true teenager. This is a wonderful thing to see. Donna:grouphug: |
Hehehe, yep! He's a pretty typical teenage boy in a lot of ways. I am very proud of him for all his hard work on math, reading and behavior issues. :D As for me I am doing pretty good still. I have hope that we'll be moving into a house before the end of the year. IF all goes well, and if it doesn't we'll be fine, it would just be nice to get OUT of an apartment setting and have a real home to lay permanent roots down in.
|
Dear Pam
i will wait to congratulate you, about the house, so as not to jinx things. :D;) but that sounds great. :) i hope it works out for you.
(((HUGS))) ~ waves ~ |
Pam
We will be waiting on word. See ya around soon. Donna:grouphug: |
Pam, :) :) :)
We are here with you. M. |
Well we heard abouut the house, things aren't gonna work out for it, so oh well. Moving on now. Crap happens and then you move on. I just want OUT of here. We'll see what happens. NOT giving up on the dream of owning a home though, not gonna let that one go. ;) Thanks you all, for caring, you make me feel a lot better about things just by listening. :grouphug:
|
Dear Pam
i am sorry about the house. keep looking. i hope something else comes along that you guys like even better... :) ~ waves ~ |
Pam
Sorry about the house. I wonder if you have looked into renting a house on the government programs too. We have a couple of rentals that way. Donna:grouphug: |
Dear Pam,
Interest rates are going to stay low. Houses will still be available for low prices for years. You'll have what you want at some point. M. |
Yeah we're in low income public housing already, and building equity towards a down payment but we have crappy credit. I guess we'll just have to work on that and deal with it until we can qualify for a loan. *Sigh* I am depressed now, things just aren't going the way I want them to and it stinks. There's stuff I don't want to go into but like a pink elephant in the room it's still there no matter what. I feel like crying. *Sigh* It's funny I have a feeling if I start crying I won't be able to stop. :(
|
Dear Pam,
It stinks when thinks don't go the way we want them to. I'm sorry that you are unhappy. When you can, move your focus to something that you have control of -- like planning a nice meal, or crafting a small afternoon project, . . . . . . . . in other words, something that can bring you immediate satisfaction. M. |
maybe a good cry is what you need, it can be very theraputic.
I am sorry that you are depressed. Are you going to post some pictures when you feel better? (((((HUGS)))) bizi |
Yeah will have to get some pics of us out in the community. When I get them on the computer you know I'll share. :) I am feeling pretty bad right now. I know you all remember how I was so excited about this new program that was gonna help us financially by giving us paid caregiver hours for the kiddo that Jack was gonna work. I swear, at EVERY corner they have put us off, we're not getting that and I just don't care anymore. We're suffering financially and I was so ready for it to get better, now it's looking like it won't. I have tears forming just thinking about it. I really can't be more frustrated then I already am, and the sadness SUCKS. Jack is gonna get a regular job and we'll hopefully get better finances situated soon. But then the state would have to pay twice as much to get a caregiver to come in and help me while Jack is working, but so what...It's either that or Jackie goes to a group home and we break up the family. I just HATE this economy! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I just feel like crap emotionally and am sick of struggling with money. :(
|
Pam,
Do you have access to a therapist? Sometimes a tdoc can help you reframe an issue that is bothering you. M. |
Dear Pam
i am sorry about the financial straits. it is hard not being able to do simple things that one wants to do, or even meet certain needs. and yes the economy sucks. (((HUGS))) ~ waves ~ |
I'm so sorry Pam. I can totally understand the frustration and all the other
things. I hope that things can slow down on bad news. Donna |
I see my tdoc tuesday. SO I got a call yesterday and the lady we're working with on this stuff told me "I have good news" and apparently Jack CAN work the hours we've been approved for. I am still not holding my breath though. Thanks you all for caring, I know I haven't been around much, I just can't with kiddo home for summer, he goes back Monday but even so I am gonna be working on this state paperwork and whatnot for a few weeks until we get things squared away. Wish us luck that we can make things go our way.
|
Sending you all my bestest wishes Pammie!
don't worry about posting... no deadlines here!:D just pop in when you can, we like to have you ;):):hug::hug: ~ waves ~ |
Waves is so right Pam.
We like to know the good news. And when you need to talk we like to listen. So come and go as you need. But stop and have some coffee with or without caffeine when you can. Donna:grouphug: |
Dear Pam,
I hope you get exactly what you want. M. |
hi pammie,
I hope the problems of today dissapate quickly. bizi |
Thanks everyone. I feel so disappointed things aren't working out the way we need them to, it's just VERY frustrating. Yesterday I got a horrid migraine because of it and it didn't go away until after dinner. I am glad Jackie is back in school, he's doing good so far. That's about the best we've got going right now. I have to get him ready for school now too, so I'll be around later to check back in.
|
Dear Pam
i hope you are having a better day today. ~ waves ~ |
thank you for checking in today pammie.
((((HUGS))))) bizi |
Hopefully it's gonna get better, right now it's just so frustrating. Kiddo had a good day but got agitated on the bus, so I think he's getting stressed out. :( I have hope that it's gonna improve but we have to play it day by day....Thanks you all, for caring. :)
|
dear pammie,
you are such a great mom, I hope things work out jsut the way you want them to...your family needs a break and sorry about your migraine, I did not realize that you suffer with them as well. ((((HUGS)))) bizi |
