Exercise thread September 2011

Thought I would kick off a new month.

Did my normal 3 mile walk today. Rabbit hollow is getting easier with each day. NExt challenge is stone mountain road.

SallyC 09-01-2011 10:42 AM

Did my usual callisthenics this morning..:D

Erin524 09-01-2011 11:51 AM

I'm hoping to go to the gym in a few hours, but I slept really horribly all night because my nose seems to have a ton of ragweed jammed inside of it trying to suffocate me. Making me feel really exhausted and almost like I have a cold.

I hate winter, but I cant wait for the first hard freeze.

hopefully I'll feel better once I can go use the treadmill a little later today.

dmplaura 09-01-2011 01:06 PM

Walked my 30 min this morning. Will do my 20 minutes of toning, and then I have to go to the drug store this evening, so a tiny walk to get there and home after dinner. :)

Thanks for the Sept. thread Dej!

Dejibo 09-02-2011 06:14 AM

Im off to do my 3 miles, and I am going to go up and over Rabbit Hollow today. Whoo! Its laundry day here, so no errands or anything, so I can wear myself out. My vision has gotten so bad lately, I just cant see stuff anymore. Good thing the hubby is a nice guide doggie for me.

dmplaura 09-02-2011 07:21 AM

:D Good hubby! *pet pet* 3 miles is awesome Dej! Sounds like a beautiful area you have to walk in, at least by name! :) Are your leaves changing colors yet? They have been here for a week now. Very early change this year!

Did my 30 min this morning, will do toning at dinnertime, and then I think I may go out and do a good walk this evening since my program I normally watch Fridays was rescheduled and played earlier this week. We'll see, all depends on my energy after a mentally draining day at work.

TXBatman 09-02-2011 10:57 AM

Did 25 miles in about 1:45 on wednesday night outside. Even though it was 95-100 degrees, it really wasn't that bad. I just rode easy since I am faster than the coworker I go riding with. I kind of blew him up in the 100+ degree heat a few weeks ago, so I went easy on him this time.

Went to spin class last night and did what I call a trance class. He just plays music with different tempos and has us always try to pedal to the tempo. The idea is to not focus on time or how bad your legs hurt or anything else...just turn the resistance up or down and chase whatever tempo the music has. It can be brutal if you are not bashful about turning up the resistance. Last night I went HARD, and I am still feeling it today. Was a fun class though.

SallyC 09-02-2011 11:39 AM

I'm having nother don't feel like it day, today..:o I shall do dbl time tomorrow.:p

Vonn07 09-02-2011 08:43 PM

hey Sally ... me, too ... me, too ... ah - there's always tomorrow! ... NO WAIT!! I DID do my arm exercises this morning!!

AND I cleaned out my supply room and rearranged boxes ... and built up a sweat ... :p

drank too much pink lemonade yesterday - and was up every couple of hours ... finding the bathroom in the dark ...

Erin524 09-03-2011 12:42 AM

all I did today was sit around and sneeze my nose off. I feel like crap.

I did do 16 mins yesterday at the gym...so I figured I could sit around today and snort snot and hopefully get rid of these allergies. (probably going to be a sinus infection in a day or two tho) I did play the Wii a little bit tonight when my best friend came over to visit for a bit. Playing the Wii (even while sitting down) counts as exercise, right?

Yes! This is an 'exercise' thread, so if you're not physically exercising, but mentally exercising, I'd say that counts too... right? :D

Hope you feel better quick Erin!

Did my 30 min this morning, about 30 min last night after dinner, and my 20 min tone while cooking dinner last evening. Will tone again tonight and then it's Mom's night to chat on the phone with me. :) Have a good day all!

SallyC 09-03-2011 01:05 PM

Yes, I did dbl time this morning. Did my usuall doggy duty and then wet mopped liv rm, dn rm, kit, bthrm & hall floors. If I conger up some more energy today, will polish furniture.

:thud:

Next....the bdrms!!

Dejibo 09-03-2011 02:08 PM

Wii counts! lifting cans counts! housework counts! it all counts.

walked 2 miles this morn. Ran into a weekender and his jumpy dog. slobbered all over me, tried very hard to knock me down. He really needs to control his animal better.

Erin524 09-03-2011 05:05 PM

I may attempt going to the gym later tonight to walk on the treadmill. Went to the medical clinic that the grocery store has (the clinic is part of the same medical group my regular doctor's office is associated with. They even had access to my records on the computer there!) The NP at the grocery store clinic said I have a sinus infection.

She said it was either allergy or viral. (she was leaning towards allergies being the cause tho) I had a 101 degree temperature last night, and was really achy. I still had a low grade temperature at the clinic. She gave me a Z-Pack (zithromax) It's been several hours since I had the first of the Z-Pack. Feeling a little better. Still congested, but it doesnt feel like it's getting any worse.

My parents want me to take them to the bookstore, so that might end up being my exercise for the day. Kind of bummed that I'm sick this weekend. Boyfriend was going to come into town. I told him to stay home and watch the Nebraska game. If he'd come into town, I might have gone to a museum or somewhere and that would have been my exercise. Now I have to actually go to the gym. (or go bowling or swordfight on my Wii) At least I can breathe a teeny bit better from the combination of antibiotic and Mucinex.

Dejibo 09-04-2011 07:52 AM

Its Sunday, I took the day off.

I't labor day, I'm taking the weekend off:p

dmplaura 09-04-2011 12:49 PM

I wish I could take the day off. Sadly though, I needed groceries, and stores are closed tomorrow. So it had to be done today. Sometimes working Tuesday to Saturday can really be a pain in the butt.

So I went and got my groceries and a few items at Wallymart that I needed to pick up as well (Pyrex baking dishes on sale! Yay!). Lugged it all home too. I'm pretty sure my back/hips are bruised from the enviro bags smacking me as I walked with them over my shoulders. Heavy load of stuff.

Was supposed to rain all day today and tomorrow. Turned out beautiful and sunny today, and supposed to be the same Monday. Yay! :)

Happy long weekend all! :D

Dejibo 09-05-2011 06:24 AM

Im off to walk 3 miles today and then its a day full of errands. im pooped before I even leave my chair. have a great day everyone, remember to wiggle something.

dmplaura 09-05-2011 11:51 AM

Walked around a bit today, but my head's wild with pain on the left side. Not entirely sure if I should head out again for fresh air or side here in a ball and grit my teeth.

It is a nice day out today, but the weather's going from sunny and hot to cooler and rainy overnight into tomorrow, and Mrs. Barometer is feeling it.

Hugs to all hope you're having a fantastic day!!! :grouphug:

SallyC 09-05-2011 01:16 PM

It was 96 on Sat. and 61 today!!! my body is revolting the change.

Erin524 09-05-2011 02:04 PM

I played the Wii a bunch last night. Almost beat my boyfriend's score in the bowling game. (just 8 points below his high score)

My right arm is sore today from all the bowling. But it was fun, and I didnt have to leave the house. The antibiotics I'm on, or maybe the fact that I couldnt breathe thru my nose all weekend is making my sense of smell seem a bit weird today. Everything smells icky. Went to get breakfast with my parents and couldnt eat because something in the restaurant smelled icky.

Not sure I want to risk going to the gym with weird smells in my nose. Afraid that the natural stench of the gym might be too much for me. So, I'm probably doing laundry tonight and playing the Wii for exercise.

Dejibo 09-06-2011 06:35 AM

its raining cats and dogs and sticks to fight them with. Im not walking in that. I am taking the day off. :D

dmplaura 09-06-2011 07:58 AM

I think I barely beat the rain this morning on my 30 minute walk. I had my umbrella with me though, but kept thinking "If it starts to rain I'm arriving home soaked". It's pretty windy out, and an umbrella just doesn't work when it's windy.

If it's raining this evening a lot (as they say it will be), walk will be postponed to another night this week.

Dejibo 09-07-2011 06:23 AM

Walked in the rain today. no relief in sight. my poor garden is floating, my mailbox has its own mote and loads of yards are sliding into the street at this point.

LAbor day is over! This means mass exodus from the street will start. Hooray! i can walk without being attacked by dogs off leash, or given the creepy stare downs by campers that have wandered thru the woods and think that my back yard is a paradise for their morning stroll thru my garden. We always feel a bit safer after the holiday because folks we dont know, from town, and states we dont know will no longer be picking thru our trash or vegetables thinking themselves entitled.

I hope everyone else is wiggling today.

dmplaura 09-07-2011 07:53 AM

Walked last night, missed the rain again (yay!) and had a VERY cold walk this morning (3 layers and I could see my breath!).

Going to do my walk tonight + daily toning. Pain's been bad in my face/head this week (I had a firm apple slice - literally, my gum behind my tooth. Just what a burning mouth sufferer needs!), I find the cool, fresh air really helps to reduce the pain intensity and calm me.

dmplaura 09-08-2011 07:42 AM

Hope everyone's doing well today :grouphug: Katia appears to be narrowly missing us in coming days in the Maritimes. That's good news!

I walked 4.5km last evening. Doing my "Winter Walk" now, it's a path that's on a bus route and heavily traveled/cleared (hospital zone). Best walked in the fall/winter/early spring when the nights get dark quicker too.

I managed to avoid the rain yesterday morning and last night on my walk, however this morning was light rain. Went out and did my 30 min walk anyways, with umbrella. At least it wasn't windy!

No walk tonight after dinner, except 2 blocks to the corner store for more bread (tangent - the loaves are going up in price, and they're smaller - anger!) and my nightly toning while cooking dinner.

First NFL game of the season's on tonight too! (for you sports fans!). Should be a great game!

Dejibo 09-08-2011 08:27 AM

Im in a flare, but managed to get out in the down pouring rain and walked anyway. Its cooling off fast out there, which makes me much less blind when I walk, so this is good! Im so full of baclofen its amazing that I can find my way.

I have errands to get done. I hope everyone is wiggling something today.

dmplaura 09-14-2011 09:05 PM

Bump! Still been doing my walking in the mornings, however hubby arrived today, so off for a bit I am! :D We did go for an after dinner walk tonight (I cooked!). was very nice out tonight! :)

SallyC 09-14-2011 09:56 PM

Time for a different kind of exercise, Laura..:o:D

Dejibo 09-17-2011 06:38 AM

Sorry to be absent, im really flaring and feel badly.

I have been walking 2 or 3 miles each day. With the approaching fall I have been trying on all those old clothes that no longer fit, and have been making donation piles. Salvation Army wont accept winter stuff til Oct 1.

On days when I run a fever, I have stayed home. I am way too wobbly, and way too blind to be out there trying to drag myself home. DH had a fit and said NO! GO BACK TO BED! He even got me a new video game to keep me laying down and occupied. What a man!

Sorry to hear you've been feeling so crummy Dej, but it's awesome that you've still be able to get out and walk despite the flare and overall malaise.

That's weird that Sally Ann won't accept Winter items until October 1, first I've heard of that! I figured they were just happy to take whatever they could get.

About the video game, that's awesome!!! :D What game did he get you to play?

Hope you're feeling better soon!

SallyC 09-17-2011 12:37 PM

I must admit, I'm moving better and quicker in this delightful fall weather..:)

Erin524 09-17-2011 02:46 PM

I'm happy it's 50 degrees out the past few days. (it'll go back up to 80 in another day or so)

Went to the gym last night and managed about 25 mins on the treadmill because it was FREEZING in the gym. I think they still had the a/c on. I loved it. Once I found a machine that didnt have gum on it (1st treadmill, ew!) and wasnt going to quit working on me and toss me to the floor (2nd treadmill. I didnt get hurt, it quit working before I could actually step on it) I got some decent walking in.

My knee has been killing me lately, but I think it's hurting because I havent been doing much with it. Kind of think inactivity is what's causing part of my problem right now. So, I'm trying to get to the gym every other day. When I'm not getting to the gym, I try to do something with the Wii, so that I'm at least moving around.

Dejibo 09-18-2011 10:22 AM

its a great day, BUT...I am ALONE! wahoo!!! dear son went to work, and DH went to a shooting event that he is instructing women how to defend themselves, so...the place is MINE! all mine! no one knows how much that means, unless you came from a place of privacy and are now surrounded by men asking "have you seen my?..." "did we buy any??..." or "MOM! can you look at this?..." UGH! NO! the phone hasnt stopped rining, the bell hasnt stopped buzzing, the race track is in full swing round the corner, so you have to turn up the TV just to hear the commericial, and I am overwhelmed with stimulation!!!! LEAVE ME ALONE! So, everyone bailed on me today. Whew...i needed to just sit in the corner and stare out the window. Ahhhhhh....no walks, no exercise, im gonna eat some junk for lunch and nap. stinky and dont even care if I see the shower today. just let me drool in my corner.

Monkey 09-18-2011 12:23 PM

I've been told I need to stretch daily, and that I shouldn't do any other excersizing right now.
I just can't find the motivation to do such. I need a stretching partner...

Dejibo 09-19-2011 07:45 AM

3 miles today! shivering and my teeth chattering, but I was out there. by the end of the walk I was much warmer, but wow! it was cold out there!

I hope the rest of you are out there wiggling things in public.

Some things wiggle without provication.:D

Dejibo 09-21-2011 08:32 AM

DH was out on a walk of his own, so took my son with me on my 3 mile hike. HA! Blind as a bat, dragging his mom up the street, but he did a good job! We had several neighbors pass us, and he would tell me who they were, and I would wave. We faked them out! Saw a very nice sweet old lady I havent seen in a long time. She was waving from her yard. My son pointed her out and told me how anxiously she was waving. I would not have seen her. So, we crossed over and chatted. DH is always in a hurry to get from point A to point B, always the Marine, but son was wonderful to know that mom has tons of friendly faces that want to see her. Way to go Matt!

I hope the rest of you are out there wiggling something in public.

dmplaura 09-21-2011 09:12 AM

Been walking around a lot with the hubby while he's been here visiting. He's a walker too (on his feet at work all day) so he's enjoying our time out and about, and together ultimately!

I was supposed to work today (1 day I couldn't get off) and my manager made a mistake and booked it off! What are the chances??? I was floored when I saw it, and asked her "Do I really have today off??" - A 'pinch me this can't be happening!' moment of sorts lol! :)

So while I got up and did my 30 min walk (routine before work), hubby and I will be out on the prowl today around town, now that I have a freebie thanks to my manager's scheduling mistake. :D

Good times!! :)

SallyC 09-21-2011 01:10 PM

Cool Laura..:cool::D

Even though the temps have been mild, the Humidity has been high and it's been rainy, here in SWOhio. With the hi humidity, I cannot seem to muster the strength to do much!

And I can't seem to get enough quality sleep.

Stretch, stretch, stretch is all I seem to do right now..:(
