Awww....Kay thanks for sharing those pics. They are adorable!! :)

NaeNae 03-20-2008 12:28 PM

AWWWW Thanks so much Kayo for making my darling little Olivia her very own Wok Wok thread!! You know how much she enjoys them! I printed these off for her as she is ...finally......sleeping 102 fever today....dang preschool LOL! Thought I'd come up and check the board as this is the first chance I have had to even pee!

I already know what she is going to say...LOL as do we all! Wonderpets! it's Ming Ming the Wok Wok!

CayoKay 03-20-2008 12:43 PM

lol, y'all know the expression: "Like water off a duck's back" ??

well, I guess it works for GEESE too, eh?

see how the water beads up on their back feathers?

cool, huh?

NaeNae 03-20-2008 12:45 PM

I think I need to bring Olivia to Belize!

CayoKay 03-20-2008 12:50 PM

the children who visit here really like playing with my animal beebies.

here's one that won't go poo-poo all over Olivia's little shoes:

http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/1012/dscn4106rz6.jpg

and the guinea pig babies will let kids hold them, and pet them.

the goslings, well, all THEY want is to be FED...

all day, it's "Gimme lettuce! Gimme cabbage!"

:winky:

AZjanie 03-20-2008 12:50 PM

Ah gee whiz!! Arent they just the cutest little "gooselets"!!

Curley, Larry and Moe; love it!

I wondered how you would keep predators away since there are some not so nice critters there??

Also, do you get these guys by mail??

We lived next door to a game farm several years ago and they sent out boxes of "chicklets" all over the country. We would go get our mail and listen to peep peep peep!
:)

CayoKay 03-20-2008 12:59 PM

nobody would DARE bother the goslings...

lol, see how CLOSE auntie and papa watch 'em?

in the middle goose pic above, that THING in the upper left-hand corner is a GOOSE breast.

man-oh-man, I had to be BRAVE to get that close!

lol, no, actually, I was on the porch, using the ZOOM lens... lol

and their mama - she doesn't even let the ducks and chickens near...

let alone the possums, skunks, agouti, coatimundi, and jaguarundi.

;)

naw, we bought our three geese from a neighbor in Benque Viejo del Carmen, on the Guatemala border.

two Chinese Gray geese, and one Toulouse goose.

the Toulouse (Gwynneth) mated with the Chinese gander (Gandalf), and she laid 7 eggs in early February.

four of the eggs hatched... three in the incubator (Larry, Curly, & Mo) and one "naturally" under her mom, in a nest.

geese make GREAT guards for our property... they get LOUD when anyone comes in our gate.

and even LOUDER, now that there's babies to guard!

:grouphug:

oh, and geese work a LOT cheaper than guard dogs...

lol, a handful of dried corn, and some lettuce, and they're good for the day, 'cause they get most of their food by foraging in da jungle.

SallyC 03-20-2008 01:13 PM

Awwwwwwwwwww...sniff, sniff...so adorable...:Thanx:

CayoKay 03-20-2008 01:36 PM

the MIRACLE of hatching day (March 3rd), here at Chez Kay in da jungle:

gosling cracking out of its shell, in my incubator.

brand new baby gosling - drying off, and resting under heat lamp, in my homemade brooder box.

so, Larry, Curly and Mo are 2 and a half weeks old now.

Connor hatched naturally a week later.

CayoKay 03-20-2008 01:43 PM

in case anyone's wondering...

the pencil marks you can see on the eggies are X's and O's.

that's how we tell which way to turn the eggs (rotated end-over-end, 3 times a day)

:)

NaeNae 03-20-2008 03:30 PM

Well I was close! Olivia's response was a snotty nosed wowwwww Wok Woks!

CayoKay 03-21-2008 01:01 PM

well, Linny the Guinea WonderPet doesn't live here with me...

but I have Patsy, Peta, Paula, Pablo, and Pancho!

here's Pablo peeking out at you, Olivia:

here's Momma Patsy, so proud of her new babies!

and here's Choco, Buffy, and Maggie, caring for their teenybopper ducklings:

NaeNae 03-22-2008 07:54 AM

LOL Olivia saw the piglets and goes, " awwwwwwwww" then all of the little gooselets and her response was ,"awwww, baby pretty pretty wok woks!"

Once again you've made her day!

SandyC 03-22-2008 10:40 AM

Awwwww, so sweet! Olivia, you are one special little girl to have your own thread!

CayoKay 03-22-2008 03:37 PM

Good afternoon, Olivia.

I would like to introduce you to one of my little bunnies.

This is Brad:

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/3325/dscn4213js3.jpg

Brad likes to make a mess in his Bunny House, and toss his toys all over.

His favorite thing to play with is his chew-stick... he grabs hold of it with his teeth, and THROWS it, UP in the air, and back over his shoulder.

Then, he runs and picks it up, and does it all over again.

I had to make him a feeding dish that is firmly *attached* otherwise, when he is hungry, guess what?

He would have no FOOD to eat, because... he liked to play CATCH with his dish too!

But I outsmarted him... I drilled little holes in his dish, and WIRED it to the FLOOR.

Now, he plays catch with his carrots instead, like a good Bun-Wun!

PS: Olivia, I hope you are feeling better today.

tkrik 03-22-2008 07:28 PM

Olivia - How special you are to have your very own Wok Wok Thread. I certainly hope these wok woks are making you feel better.

CayoKay 03-23-2008 06:44 PM

Larry, Curly, & Mo will be three weeks old tomorrow.

they're growing SO fast, Olivia!

if you remember, all three use to bathe together...

look, only TWO of them fit in the water dish now:

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/2198/dscn4762ks8.jpg

I'm sitting at the bottom of my front steps taking these pictures.

the gosling WOK WOK babies are having a nice time, washing, and grooming their downy-soft baby feathers.

WOW, how does he bend his NECK that way?

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/9295/dscn4768ck3.jpg

OOOOOOOPS !!!

http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/4894/dscn4771oh1.jpg

looks like little Larry has SPOTTED me, and is coming over to see if I have any of his favorite treat, LETTUCE, yummy, yum, yum!

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/7273/dscn4769ab4.jpg

Larry's checking my camera, to see how it tastes!

http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/3309/dscn4770ag8.jpg

tkrik 03-23-2008 07:44 PM

Kay - I think you found your calling. Children's books with photos from your farm. These are great.

NaeNae 03-23-2008 08:57 PM

OMG Tkrik that is a great idea!!!!!!!!!! Kayo start snapping, I'll do the writing, Tkrik can come up with the name!

I LOVE the pic of Larry tasting the camera I blew that one up for Olivia and told her he was giving her kisses! She so cutely leaned forward and smooched little Larry on the beak! And the bunny, she said mmmm carrots are gooooood! LOL I look forward to showing her your pics every day. My those little gooselets are growing like weeds! Must be all that organic lettuce!

Oh BTW Olivia seems to be feeling better today, the meds are definitely helping all she will eat is popsicles though! (She may be milking it LOL) One of Daytons Easter basket goodies was a new dart gun and he and the neighborhood boys have been at war all day!

PolarExpress 03-23-2008 09:15 PM

That Larry is quite the character! Love the camera tasting pic (and his name)..
What do you put in that lettuce, Kay? They're growing crazy fast!

CayoKay 03-24-2008 08:35 AM

NaeNae, glad I could help sweet little Olivia feel better.

and that CRACKS me up that she smooched Larry on the beak.

we're not sure WHAT our geese are going to grow up like, having parents of two different breeds.

(we didn't plan this, it just happened... Gandalf HAS a proper Chinese Gray Goose wife, Glinda, but she, er, em, GOOSES him when he tries to get close, so he mated with the little Toulouse instead.)

they're just like PEOPLE babies, they follow me all over the farm, and "help" me feed the wabbits and guin-wins and duckies and chickens.

and scoop up EVERYTHING I drop (MS-fumble-fingers)

ruh roh!

the baby goslings are chirping for more cabbage and lettuce... back to work!

:)

NaeNae 03-24-2008 09:13 AM

You can call them Gray Chilouse's!

CayoKay 03-30-2008 02:52 PM

Good afternoon, Olivia!

How are you feeling today?

Has the "Snot Factory" gone out of business yet?

Hey, sweetie?

Do you remember when THREE of the gosling Wok-Woks could fit in their water dish?

And then, after a couple of weeks, only two would fit?

Well, guess what?

The goslings have gotten so big, that only ONE fits in the dish now!

http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/1506/dscn4786dc1.jpg
here's your favorite pretty Wok-Woks

they're getting graceful swan-like necks now, and their FEATHERS are starting to come in!

weegot5kiz 03-30-2008 02:54 PM

CayoKay 03-30-2008 03:06 PM

Olivia, these aren't really Wok-Woks... but I wanted to show you my goats today:

Here's our new Bucky-Boy... he came to live at our farm today.

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6224/dscn4794dk5.jpg
Leroy, or Leto, perhaps?

he's a gorgeous and rambunctious billy goat, complete with beard.

now Leeloo will have a husband, finally!

I'm contemplating names for him - here's the choices in the running, so far:

Luther (Lex)
Lester (from Leicester, England),
Lazarus (God Has Helped),
Lancelot (Spear),
Llwellyn (Lion),
Leto (Duke Leto Atreides, from Dune), and
Leroy (the King)

Leroy, boy, is that you?
I thought your post-hangin days were through
Sunk-in eyes and full of sighs
Tell no lies, you get wise
I tell you now, we're gonna pull you through
There's only one thing left that we can do

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/1926/dscn4795em0.jpg
Leeloo spots the new kid on the block!

We gotta get you a woman
It's like nothin' else to make you sure you're alive
We gotta get you a woman
We better get walkin' we're wastin' time talkin' now
(Todd Rundgren)

Twinkletoes 03-30-2008 03:21 PM

Frank, that just cracked me up. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes from laughter!! It sounded just like my mother!

Every Sunday nite, we watched ol' Marlin and Jim during dinner (tv in the kitchen). My mom always felt sorry for poor Jim doing all the work - "Why doesn't that lazy Marlin get in there and help him!" Every single Sunday nite.....

Good memories...

We used to watch it too and my Mom would say the same thing!! Oh yes; really good memories!

FlyFishin Momma 03-31-2008 07:58 AM

I LOVE the new addition.......I am not a goat fan.....and DH has been wanting to get some to help with the weed control round here........I have not wanted too.........
but after seeing your new buddy....I may change my mind...
cept I am afraid of the horns.......

I also went and checked out the local chicks this past weekend.....I wanted like all 250 of them lol.......but will settle for about 20 ........new baby chciks + a lil time = fresh eggs.............yyuuummmmyyyy..........

CayoKay 04-07-2008 07:38 PM

Kay, most people do "dis-budding" and remove the horn buds when the goats are babies.

but being that we're in da jungle, we leave our animals "natural" so they can defend themselves.

we don't "clip" our duckies' wings either, so they can *fly away* if threatened by a wildcat or snake.

but a wee bit of advice, goats usually make terrible weedeaters...

they're browsers, and will MUCH prefer to eat your garden and landscaping.

:D:p:D

so, what KIND of chickens are ya gonna get?

CayoKay 04-07-2008 08:03 PM
