Twinkletoes 07-24-2008 12:02 AM

Sorry, Frank -- it's not a cheese cutter. ;)

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:08 AM

Some nail or cuticle (sp?) cutter or trimmer. Some obscure object that someone gives as a gift and, yet, falters when it comes to letting the recipient know what the gift is?

Will we know what these objects are? or just keep guessing?

Just wondering :).

Curious 07-24-2008 12:09 AM

some kind of garnishing tool? makes cucumber skins turn into a rose? :p

I actually DO know what this one is!!! But I'm hoping someone will guess by this time tomorrow.

I ordered it from eBay -- it's prolly about 30 years old. Maybe more.

Nope -- keep thinking!

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:10 AM

Another thought: When in H.S., and into ag. stuff, I used to take care of one of my teacher's horses. Such an object was also used for trimming the horses' shoe-stuff.

So, maybe it's something used for shaving: Human or animal.

... and, as I dare say ... The horse was aging but was beautiful! :D

Curious 07-24-2008 12:12 AM

cuts corn off the cob?

Twinkletoes 07-24-2008 12:12 AM

Teacher's pet, eh, Bobbi? Nope, not close yet. It's not very heavy duty.

Nope, not for corn. It's job is very specific, though.

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:14 AM

An eyelash curling object. Archaic? Maybe. But what the heck.

Curious 07-24-2008 12:14 AM

shaves the fuzz off of peaches?

:p

Curious 07-24-2008 12:15 AM

is it food related?

It might help you to know that the coin beside it is a quarter. Too big for eyelashes and not for peaches. But I love your creative guesses!

Yes, it IS food-related.

weegot5kiz 07-24-2008 12:17 AM

its not something used in working leather is it?

As long as the teacher wasn't "too friendly," I can attest that it helps being teacher's pet. If not for that man, I woulda been suspended more than once - for some lame stuff. Lesson learned: Helps to be a suck up.

Okay, what about a leather-working tool? I'm not giving up :).

Twinkletoes 07-24-2008 12:18 AM

Wow, Bobbi and Frank -- you're both thinking leather. Nope, it is not a heavy-duty tool. Too wimpy for that.

If you look carefully, you'll see that part of it can move.

Curious 07-24-2008 12:18 AM

greens chopper?

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:19 AM

Two of us thought leather-working tool. I was typing my thought and saw the other after I hit reply. So cool!

weegot5kiz 07-24-2008 12:19 AM

something to wind yarn around

Curious 07-24-2008 12:19 AM

i take it, that it swivels and that the handle stand up?

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:20 AM

Is it a bone shaver?

Something a physician would use?

Maybe cutting bone. Meat? Butcher? Coroner?

Twinkletoes 07-24-2008 12:20 AM

Nope, it's not sharp enough to chop.

Good guesses, all of you!

If I didn't already know what it was, I sure wouldn't know what to guess! C'mon, someone!

weegot5kiz 07-24-2008 12:20 AM

or some sort of pasta cutter trying to picture the shape it would make

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:21 AM

This is sick, but... I also dreamt of being spliced to death as I slept last night:

The better the spin, the deeper the cut.

Meat cutter/trimmer.

Mmmmm, you keep the handle in your hand and yes, it will swivel. (Not sure if that's the best word for it, though.)

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:22 AM

Ahh, a canola (sp?) maker. It does spices. Better than Martha Stewart. It minces.

Bobbi 07-24-2008 12:24 AM

Frank, your mind is in the wrong bowl (HINT)! I suppose you COULD use it for pasta, but I don't think it was meant for that.
