No burning?

Hi I was diagnosed with CRPS 4 months ago in my left ankle. It spread to the other foot and is now spreading up both legs. I only had burning for 3 weeks then it just stopped. Now I'm left with this tingling sensations up my legs. It is also in my left hand where I had nerve damage over 20 years ago. I'm so confused as to what is going on with my body. Dr just says to up my Lyrica with makes my body more hypersensitive. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the family Bud,
I have the same tingling sensations too. I'm already at the max limit of Lyrica so my neurologist prescribed Cymbolta also. Now my burning has decreased a bit but now I have this constant tingling.
I've been told that some drugs mask the pain but it's still there only more doable.
I read your post and I just wanted you to know that you're not alone...

Was there a correlation between med timeline and the decrease of burning pain? Sometimes it takes a bit of time for them to have an effect on your body.

RSD is bizarre. Sometimes symptoms come and sometimes they go. Burning pain is generally considered to be the most common sign of the disoder, but you don't have to have it continually for the diagnosis.

Thx so much for answering. It's truly is driving me crazy. Sometimes I think the Lyrical is causing it. I tryed Cymbolta but it made me depressed. Gotta love it. Tingling for over 2 months now but I'm grateful the burning only lasted 3 weeks but people keep telling me it could come back so its always on my mind. Dr says its in remission but can't figure out the tingling. Went for nerve tests. Waiting for results. Could I have pinched nerve in ankle? Two MRIs say I have impingment but Orthodox Dr say they are false because of the massive swelling I had. Didn't mean to ramble, just feels good to finally talk to someone who can relate. Thanks and take care.

Ok whole story. Was diagnosed with ankle sprain when I started having pain in front of ankle, but I didn't sprain it! It just started hurting so they put me I'm boot for 6 weeks all the while it kept getting worse. I had swelling, shooting pain, burning, color change, muscle spasms. You name it I had it. It also spread to my other leg. Went to different Dr who diagnosed me with CRPS. I took off boot that day and started to ice ot to get swelling down. It only took two days for 90% of swelling to go away. I couldn't walk on original foot after being in boot for 6 weeks. Started physical therapy and started walking after a week in a lot of pain. No one told me not to ice! I think that's what made it spread to other leg when I was in boot. I was taking it off and icing it. Just started taking meds when burning just stopped. Had a block but it didn't stop the tingling. So sorry couldn't say meds made it stop.

Posting reply but don't know where they r going. No burning just stopped after 3 weeks. Just stated taking meds then. Sorry

Sorry that you are going through all this. The docs had me icing in the beginning too and wearing a boot for a couple of months (diagnosed an ankle sprain in the beginning). Did the burning stop before or after the block? The very first block I had didn't help with the pain but the whole thing with my leg getting ice cold went away (for a few months anyway) after that first block. You just never know with RSD...but it's a good thing if the burning has gone away.

The burning stopped before the block. Did yours spread to the other leg?

Mr. Bud

I read under RSD foundation, that us RSDers can have all the symptoms at once or just a few at a time. So think of your burning pain being at bay good news. That is one last thing you have to deal with.

Similar Neuropathic Burning?

Is this burning pain with RSD/CRPS the same as the burning pain associated with PN (Peripheral Neuropathy)? I'm wondering :picknose: because I see mention of some of the same meds used to help control it. :Scratch-Head:

Some of us with PN have had success controlling our burning pain, needle jabs/shocks, and cramping with various combinations of R-Lipoic Acid (RLA) (a newer stabilized form is being touted now), Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC), and Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5). I'm taking 100 mg RLA with 500 mg B5 and 500 mg ALC every morning, and another 500 mg B5 and 500 mg ALC with supper, and I haven't had any burning pain or required any Neurontin, Lyrica, etc. since :Dancing-Chilli: (though I still have some numbness and sensitivity to cold & pain). :Sigh:

So I'm wondering if those supplements might help the burning pain of RSD/CRPS(?) Worth a try? :Dunno:
