scalp sores anyone?

ok, I have been getting these for a while now. But this time its on the top of my head and yucky and painful!!! Usually, they go away on their own. I have been alternating with peroxide and alcohol. Any thoughts

I was recently at the shore and pools this weekend. And thought it was a sunburn on my head. I also have an itchy rash on my neck.

On rebif, gabapentin, pristiq, nexium

Thanks

It could be Psoriosis. I have had patches on my head. The went away from there, but I have had patches in the weirdest places, sometime. Mostly, I have a running battle with psoriosis on my hands. The summer heat and humidity, seem to agrivate it an spread it.

Give your head an oil treatment. That may help. There is no cure..

I 've had troubles with scalp & shampoos this spring/summer.
they either give me scalp build up with spots of super chunky dandruff  that itch & peel off :o - or it makes my hair feel very coated and heavy..

alternating with clarifying shampoo & 2 organic ones now seems to be working

I was going to say it could be Psoriasis or maybe Seborrhea

If it's causing you pain, or is really really annoying, you should go see your doctor about it. There are prescription and over-the-counter treatments, but a doctor would be able to tell you what it is and then either prescribe something, send you to a dermatologist, or could tell you which OTC treatment you can use.

I cant remember if I had psoriasis or seborrhea, but about 20yrs ago I had one of the two, and my doctor told me to use an OTC shampoo called Neutrogena T-Gel. The active ingredient in the shampoo is coal tar, and the shampoo doesnt smell all that great, but it's great for calming down the itching from both scalp problems. It gets rid of dandruff too. I used to use it all the time, but it's kind of tough on color treated hair, so once whatever I had back then calmed down and seemed to go away, I quit using it.

Thinking about starting to use the T-Gel shampoo again. Our local water has been extra hard lately because of all the junk the utilities district has been putting in our water because of all the flooding here. (we also havent put salt in our water softener here at home lately because the bags are too heavy for us to lift) My scalp is starting to get mad at me.

ME! they start out like pimples, or small ingrown hairs, and they can be very sore. if you pick them, or squeeze them it helps for now, but makes a mess! it can turn them into sores, and then for some reason it makes them itchier and makes a mess.

I switched to a Sulfate free shampoo and it helped a lot! They have all but gone. Sufates like Sodium laryl sufate or sodium larith sulfate are normally the first ingredients in shampoo and its the same stuff they use to degrease a garage floor. It makes tons of later, and we tend to want our shampoo to be full of lather. I find now and again, I can do a wash or two with a regular shampoo but if I completely switch back, the sores come back.

I recently changed to a "conditioning shampoo" which has no sulfates at all in it, and my head really healed up. no more bumps! I used WEN but its VERY expensive. I switched to the Sally beauty supply version and its as effective at a lot less money.

Let us know what you figure out.

Thanks

You might consider seeing your PCP or a Dermatologist so you know what you are dealing with. It could possibly be Skin Cancer.

I had mine looked at by my dermatologist and he said it seemed like a simple reaction to the harsh chemicals in shampoo and reccomended I switch and see. I did and its amazing! its a good idea to be looked at tho.

I did have derma look at mine. She said to buy head n shoulders, and 2 other dandruff stinky ones, alternate each nite. Didn't do a thing. She also said not to use the coal tar one, it would turn my white hair funky color.
