Things That Make Life Easier
 

I've got several things that make my life a little easier. What do you use or do that makes your day a little easier to get through?

I use a Swiffer Sweeper all the time. I have wood floors everywhere except the bathrooms and bedrooms and cat hair/dust/dirt show up all the time. Using the mechanical Swiffer Seeeper is so easy, lets me pickup all the dirt and debris by just pushing the lightweight sweeper around the rooms. Easy to empty and put back together. I have two and one is always on the charger and one is always ready to use! :)

I bought a long handled "grabber" to help me pick things up that I have dropped or that I can't reach. Prevents me from having to bend over and possibly lose my balance.

I've started to order some of my groceries through Schwan's. Not everything and they don't carry milk, eggs, bread or personal items. But there are several items that I like and having them delivered to my door is great. Alice.com is another site that has good prices and a big selection of items (similar to Amazon). I also started ordering my cat food online. I got a killer deal last time because they had free shipping so I stocked up. Free shipping is a rarity with cat food because it's so heavy but they had a one-day special and I used it!

I installed grab bars in my shower. They help me maintain my balance in the shower and make me feel less anxious when I'm in there.

I'm sure there are more but what have you done to make your life easier? :)

I use a Swiffer too! I have the Wet Jet one and one that is just the pole that you attach the pads to. It has saved me so much time and energy. I used to mop the floor twice. Once with soapy water, then clean water, and then I would dry it with a towel at the end of the Swiffer pole thing, that I can't remember the name of. :rolleyes::D The Wet Jet was a great purchase.

I also use that same Swiffer pole thing to dust/wash the walls, ceiling fan, base boards, air vents, windows, etc. I don't buy the dusting cloths or wet cloths that you are supposed to use. I use microfiber cloths.

I keep cleaning supplies in each of the bathrooms. That way everything is right there and I don't have to carry it all around.

I have used the delivery option at one of our grocery stores. (Safeway). It's such a great option and you get the same in store deals as well as some online deals. I also get their e-mail with their specials. When I get the free delivery ones, I plan to use them.

Sometimes I will freeze some of the leftovers from dinner. This way, if I am not up to cooking, I can just pull it out and heat it up. I usually do this with chili, soups, and things like that.

I'm sure I will think of more, I just can't think of them all.:D

And yes, having food, clothing and all the comforts delivered to my door is wonderful. I never have to go out shopping and fight the crowds....Good:) and Bad:(

Whoever invented the inexpensive Swiffer with throwaway cleaner/pick-up pads, wet and dry, is a genius.:cool: I'd be interested to know, if it was a man or woman.:hug:

I have one of those reacher thingys too, Kell..love it, when I can find it. My Grands like to play with it..:rolleyes:

Pee Pads and such for Doggy, so I don't have to let him in and out, 50 times per day.:rolleyes::)

There's more that saves me time and energy, for which I am soooo thankful.

I stopped using disposable products like swiffer, and switched to washable microfiber. I was shocked when the cleaning girl ran thru yet another box and the cost of $12 shocked me. I got two reusable ones of good quality for that price. The handles are sturdier and I think they do a better job. I would be lost without my dusters.

cheap, end of year clearance sale blankets. Those lap style blankets that you see everywhere. At the end of the year you can get them for a dollar or two. I put them everywhere to allow the cats to lay down without messing things up. They absorb cat hair like magnets, and are easily thrown into the dryer to defur them.

Privacy film on my windows lower half. It allows the light to come in without the lookie loos of summer time. There is a campground thru the woods, and the owner tells folks about how this is a "public lake" and to just wander on over. EEK! its all private homes here! I cant tell you how many times I have found strangers in my garden, roses, or trying to pitch a tent on the backside of my property. There are also a ton of folks that like to walk down here and bike down here, and horse back ride. I am not always dressed for public viewing, and dont want to close my curtains all day.

I love my two Roomba vacuums. They do all the work. I still have wall to wall carpet. I find it easier on my feet to walk on thick carpet than wood. I have the wet swifter for the kitchen and baths. Those are the hard jobs.

The house can be clean, but if the floors are linty or dirty, the whole house looks messy.

Dej, can't you put "No Trespassing" signs around the perimeter of your property. Or "Private Property" even. Just a thought.

I have put up NO tresspassing, an official street sign on both ends that says "private drive" and have blocked it with wood, rocks, and so on. Folks show up with their back hoes and remove the signs, remove the rocks, and then cry at town hall about someone not plowing the road from OCt to April. The ONE guy left alive with a right of way to it refuses to give it up. There is a very nice new paved road to get to his cottage, but each time we go to court to close it, he shows up to say how inconvenient it would be for him...its been a long fight, and as long as HE demands it stay open the judge rules in his favor. The minute this extremely obese, fat headed, rude man dies (the same one who owns the campground that sends folks to wander thru this private neighborhood) I will put huge boulders across it. its a HUGE source of tension in my house. I feel like I live in a fish bowl. The film to block the view but still let in the light has dramatically helped calm my jangled nerves. I dont care if folks walk it, or bike ride it or horses use it to cut thru, but car after car after car half the night and day.

I love my hot water pot! I simply plop the button on, and 60 seconds later I have hot water. I was going to say my Keurig coffee machine, but it give bad service. Today you get 3oz with your drink tomorrow its 12oz and the next day it wont turn off. There is no warranty with it, so I am stuck. I refuse to ever buy another. if I had to choose again, I would get the cuisinart.

i put one of those privacy papers on my bathroom window. i love it.
i've got the grab bars too.

i bought a one sided hand rail for my bed. it's really been helpful when i turn over or want to get out of bed. you can always get 2 to have one on each side.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser blew my mind yesterday!!!
Used it to clean pool border tiles & WOW did it make life easy!! I didn't smell a thing, used my hands with no gloves, it felt warm sometimes maybe from chlorine water? but wow is all I can say. I had soft scrub, scrunges, all kinds of stuff ready to use and the Magic Sponge wiped it away in 3 strokes. Amazing. Mr Clean original it said on 2pack box.

I was shocked the first time I used a magic eraser. BAM! and it was clean! its also good to rip the coffe/tea stains out of coffee mugs.

the computer! it just has to be my favorite. I can look up what I want, shop, download music, books, or audio books. I can socialize in my PJs. I can watch movies, or laugh at funny youtube tube videos.

I had a bad experience with magic erasers, when they first came out and can't get myself to buy another one. When I used them they crumbled as I was scrubing. They worked, but what a mess, Have they improved? Should I try again?:)

I just cleaned my bathroom floor with my handy swiffer and windex...love it.;)
