High Blood Pressure from RSD/ CRPS?

Has anyone experienced high blood pressure either from the RSD/ CRPS or the medications you take for RSD/ CRPS??

What did your Dr. say? Is the high blood pressure from being in such pain?

Thanks in advance.

Vanessa,

My Blood Pressure has always been so low, and in fact a Dr I used for several years had talked about putting me on meds due to it being so low. Most of the time the nurses would check my BP at least twice because it was always so low. After being afflicted with this horrible monster my blood pressure has been higher than in my entire life, and so far every Dr I have talked to has attributed it to the pain being the culprit. I know several other RSD'ers that have experienced the same thing.

Hugs,
Janet

Thank you for the reply. Now I know I am not the only one... :Sigh:
I will be seeing my PCP tommorow about my blood pressure problems...

I'll see what my Dr. thinks about it tommorow.

I Had Great Blood Pressure All My Life And Then One Day Out Of The Blue I Felt Awful And Checked It Myself And Then Called The Dcotor. It Was 200/100! There Was No Other Reason For It To Go Up Like That, So I Say Yes, It Seems One Can Get High Bp From Rsd.

Hi Vanessa. I have fluctuating BP due to the aunomic distrubance of CRPS. UK research has proven you can reduce your BP overall with controlled breathing. In the US a company called Resmet makes a maching ($299 in US) which if used 3 times a week will reduce your BP naturally. I have a link to it on my blog. I can't take meds so have had to find alternatives. My physiotherapist said if you breathe out twice as long as in for 15 minutes you will activate the parasympathetic nervous system and bring about a balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic syatem. tnis appears to be the principle behind the maching. It is a yoga style of breathing and is what the British studies were about I think.

Look to the left of the blog under crps/rsd related links. Click on the resmet one and you can see a short video.
Take care

Blood pressure with RSD

I have had RSD for 16 years. Nobody in my family, not my parents, or any of my siblings have been diagnosed with any sort of blood pressure problems. About a year ago my blood pressure went through the roof. I have been on medication for it ever since. At first I was told it was just "white coat fever"
(fear of Doctors). Then I was told it was probably due to some meds I was
taking. But now the response from him is "who knows". I surely do not. If you get any other responses to your posting please let me know. I am a bit in the dark, too! Thanks

Since I started this thread, I have had a LOT more blood pressure problems... my blood pressure drops really really low, and sometimes gets really high.

My neurologist told me that he atributed it to my autonomic nervous system playing a role in my RSD. I also pass out from the blood pressure drops.

My pulse gets really high and sometimes low...

I believe now, that I have read more and experienced more that when your b/p starts going nuts like mine it is the autonomic nervous system... but can be caused by some medications.

Welcome, Busta73!! Glad to have you aboard (not glad about your RSD though! :().

I believe

RSD can cause blood pressure to go CRAZY!! I just spent $3400 on a highend stress test that takes pictures of you blood flowing in your veins and shows the heart working this test can pick up any heart problems-or so I'm told. MY test came back NO PROBLEMS but my blood pressure when I first got RSD would go from 214/119 to 70/50 in the same day. Now it stays high and I am on two meds for it, PAIN and STRESS will make it high. I am so sorry someone your age has to deal with this!!!! Hang in there!!! Carose P.S. Let's all run away with Frogga at least we would have some FUN!!!And Slovenia looks beautiful.

I forgot to add that at the time RSD tried to take over my body, it hasn't won yet, I was on no meds.
