Dream interpretation

Do you believe in dream symbolism? I had a scary fire dream last night.

I used to know someone who I enjoyed discussing my dreams with, and I really miss that.

Seriously Sparky, I don't think dreams have any deep dark meanings, other than something you ate, watched on TV, or experienced close to your going to sleep time.

Our minds do not turn off when we do and keep on pondering whatever was happening or worrying us in our awaketime. JMHO!!:)

I do. I had a dream once that my oldest daughter had died. There was no actual funeral in this dream, just the absence of my daughter. I would tell my other daughter she could use her sisters side of the closet as her clothes were no longer there. The feeling of emptiness carried over into my awake time.

I was so down, couldnt figure out why I would dream that. I talked to a friend of mine who also believes in dream symbolizing, she told me I was dreaming Noelle was gone because she was a senior in HS and would be going away to college. She hadn't died, she just grew up and went to college. My fear, the kids would leave some day.

Her explaination actually made me feel much better. Kids do grow up and move away. I've learned that with both my daughters moving away, got married and now have kids of their own.

I believe in dream symbolism. Why don't you tell more about the fire dream.

My memory is kind of vague now, Aarcyn. Had something to do with horses, maybe trapped in a barn? I used to have 3 horses and I miss riding. I'm sorry, the memory has faded quite a bit.

I wish I could remember more of my dreams. Sometimes I'll wake up and think I'm remembering a dream I had......and the memory of it just slowly fades away. It's almost like I can see it slipping away.

I try not to read too much into my dreams.

When I was working I often had dreams of catching co workers that were falling , or trying to catch them...

At work we sat side by side , and we could do our work while talking, often many of the younger ones would share their problems and I would try to give some sane sensible advice...

I think my dreams back then channeled that feeling of trying to help them, sometimes it did and sometimes they didn't take the advice and the problems eventually happened again and again...

I've had the same scary end of the world nightmare about 4 times in my life so far - it started after seeing the original War of the Worlds movie on TV as a kid:eek:.

Maybe I didn't stay awake to see the ending of the movie, so I keep having this dream that the aliens spaceships are hovering and coming up our street and dad isn't home yet.
so we are trying to hide and holes are getting blasted thru the house.. I usually wake up then with a fast heartbeat LOL..
Then the only way I can calm down to get back to sleep is to make up my own ending and of course we outsmart them somehow and they leave...

Once in a while someone will ask me if I think dreams are just random subconsciousness, if they have meanings, if they are messages from God, if they are the result of too much pizza or watching scary tv shows...I always answer "yes".

I've had some dreams that I KNOW were the result of what I was watching or thinking about. I've had others that made a lot of sense in a symbolic way. I've had dreams about which I've strongly felt "pay attention to this, there's a message in it".

I've dreamed things that "came true". I told some friends that I dreamed they adopted a baby girl with red hair, and a few months later that's what happened. (They thought it was kind of creepy--I'm careful about telling people what I dream about them)

I've always been leery of self-proclaimed "dream experts". It's not science--how would you prove them right or wrong?

However, there have been times I've discussed dreams with friends (their dreams and mine) and we've helped each other come up with satisfying likely understanding.

Since I've been on LDN, I've had Vivid dreams and some are very personal and very bothersome, some are just nonsense and some are fun. It's like the devil has crept into my dreams.

After much upset and thinking that it's either give up the LDN or learn to live with them as a carpy side effect, I decided to brush them all off as nonsense and live with them. I love my LDN.:)

So I do not attempt to put any meaning to them anymore, because I was becoming a little sad and driving myself nuts. Some of them may be symbolic but guess what? I don't care anymore..:D:p:D
