Mrs D on Statins?
I have not been using my statins but no my cholesterol is going up
what alternatives do you suggest then taking the drug? |
We've had this discussion a jillion times. Please search
"statins" ...and you'll find many opinions. |
Some books I've read say it is the triglyceride # that is more telling overall health wise.
but many MDs still push the statins.. and only talk about the cholesterol # :( Some of the more alternative /natural health sites dispute the actual risk of higher cholesterol #s Read about it and be informed, not just info from MDs or the traditional pro Rx drug sites. |

I also agree, I think the triglycerides should be looked at more carefully. |

Are you taking Krill oil? If not consider starting. Hopeful |
Google duke university statin study. I would post the link but I couldn't figure out how to do it from my phone.
I too heard it on the radio. I also heard a doc reply that a more Mediterranean type diet would net out the same results. |

Maybe (I hope) there's a different study, but this one from last November is all I see using that search phrase.... :Dunno: Doc |
I believe that the study referred to is the "fat vs. heart attack" study released this week:
http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/0...ype=blogs&_r=0 and similar: http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/heal...0VCL/blog.html But then the data has been around a LONG time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8SSCNaaDcE The Swiss who consume high fat diets have the lowest heart disease rate of the countries tested. And Dr. Stephanie Seneff, who I have quoted here before, is researching cholestrol and believes that it is vital for health in humans. She has numerous YouTubes also. The death knells are ringing more loudly and more quickly for statins, than I predicted. Once Crestor goes generic we will see more negative studies on statins. As it turns out --it was the trans fats all along causing heart disease, which was also not a secret, but it took decades to teach the public about THEM, and finally they are being removed from foods. Fast foods were filled with huge amounts of trans fats, and the fast food makers are still removing them. |
Whew, I tried goggle, goggle scholar, news filters, and playing with the search criteria/terms, and couldn't find it. :Sigh:
It's hard to find something when you don't know what you're looking for. Quote:
