borderline personality disorder

MY daughter is 30 and has borderline personality disorder I need to vent as I get so frustrated with this problem,
she went to jail as she couldn't get any help out in the main world so she robbered a service station so she could go to jail and get help well she was sentenced to 5 years she has done 3 and is now out on parole but she is not any better off as now she keeps ending up at the hospital then they put her in the mental health ward but she just gets up and leaves she spent the night on the street last night I am so worried that she will get raped or even worse I just don't know what to do I worry all the time for her I am not sleeping, I knowit sound terrible but some times l wish she was still in jail as when she was in there it was peaceful

I am sorry to read about your daughter.

This Australian link might be helpful to you in terms of both information and support; https://www.sane.org/mental-health-a...ality-disorder.

All the best.

Thank you

Hi kiwi thank you for that info I have printed it out and now I will read it

Hi Dianne,
I really feel for you. You must be so worried all the time. No wonder you can't sleep. I imagine it's a very difficult situation too because your daughter is an adult and even in the health or prison system a parent doesn't really have much of a say in what is going on at all.

I honestly don't have the answers and I think that our mental health system and our prison system have a lot to answer for really.

Probably the best thing you can do is to find support and information for yourself (such as Kiwi has posted) so that you can perhaps advocate on your daughter's behalf. Your daughter's safety sounds as if it's top priority right now.

Just wanted you to know that I'm sorry for what she and you are going though. Prison isn't the answer. She needs help and it doesn't sound as if she got much of that in there. :(

Dianne, that is not good news.

I hope that your daughter gets all the medical care that she needs.

Please be extra-gentle with yourself about this - it was not down to you.
