Such big steps, for a 18 year old

Today in Indiana we hold our primary. My son as many of you know is
18 and has developmental delays. So this makes this step in his rights
a hard one to reach. It didn't mean it wasn't reachable, just that it was
going to take a little more work.

Last week he started asking me questions about the election. And because I didn't feel like I was very qualified to try and explain everything. I suggested he ask his current events aide. So he did. And the whole group of
seniors, who are old enough to vote got the information.

So he today went in and voted. After showing his ID and then getting the little card. He then politely told the lady when she asked. That he did not know how to use the card. So she took him over and showed him. He then
asked if someone could read the directions.

So I read the directions, and the lady explain to pick one if one. Or more if it said so. He still didn't understand it all. But with some work we got that straightened out.

So he voted for his first time.
And yesterday his dad and I were appointed his guardians. What a twist
sometimes. But just a situation like today shows why it was necessary.

Thanks to all.

As it was or is. It was a good thing we went early in the morning.

THe day went from good to bad, to worst.

Derrick developed some kind of severe allergy to something. We have
no clue as of yet what. He ended up in ER. With 3 meds given through
IV and liquids.

He was home today after going to the doctor to have VNS turned on.
He just still doesn't feel good.

And as he was showing me the mess, I got a call. Asking that I come
down right away. Will the 3 year old had sprayed bleach water in
his eyes. So off I went after giving Derrick some directions.

We also waited down there on a ambulance to make sure his eyes were
washed out good.

So I got back and we went to the ER it was really bad for less than
2 hours.

Yuck. So sorry.

I hope each of them is better.

Sorry i wondered if I made sense. Just one visit to ER.

Thankfully the EMT's could help walk mom through the tub and water for
Will. I was doing my best, but it was kind of over my head.

And I was so glad when I had her call 911 they sent the ambulance.
Because she has anxiety and depression. And what she would feel
if he wasn't checked out I wasn't sure. They also reassured her it
wasn't her fault.

The thing I didn't say was earlier that day she found out my 5 year
old granddaughter had a bead, paper and someother things in her
ear. Along with lots of wax.

Then during her nap she cut her bangs.

Man what a day.

Donna
