New December thread!

Hi there! Thanks to those who read my thread...thank you thank you!

Today was a great day.
saw a client at 10;30 and went over the thai cuisine restaurant to meet my lunch bunch. Had 2 bowls of my favorite soup:
chicken, tomatoes, onions, lemon grass, coconut milk. It is delicious and I can't get enough of it when I go there (not very often that is). Then had a small bowl of red curry chicken with sweet potatoes. boy was that good!
Saw my 96 year old who just got put on a walker in her own home because she had an injury. She lives alone and has help from her family for groceries and such. She is a neat lady goes out on tuesdays for cocktails with friends...lol
Ran by my clients birthday party she turns 100 on friday.
She looked smashing in her navy floor length dress with lace sleeves and bejeweled! Stayed for a cup of coffee and left.

Went to see my 3rd client of the day. He was in bed so I trimmed his nails in bed. He is in his 90's. I don't see that many men. Kept asking me to give him a kiss! He got one on the cheek when I got there and one when I left.
I told him he was a flirt!

My friend stephanie came over at 4;30.
we went to the choral christmas concert...She drove us there early to find parking. Fortunately jeff was just leaving work so he let us into the faculty parking garage. That was great! He did not stay for the concert, he was beat!
The concert was good, really enjoyed the couple of songs from the blue grass band. The wind band sounded great and the singers always do well.
My girl friend from sandras Paula was there with her son but I missed seeing them, she texted me that she saw me. I thanked her for coming.
She said she enjoyed the concert.

I had steph take a new picture of me with my hair done, blond with soft curls. I liked it and then I posted it to facebook. Nice to read compliments!

The flowers are all confused here. several of them are blooming early. The weather has been so nice. cooler today over cast and damp rainey 57 for high and it will be that way for the next few days then it is supposed to warm up again into the 70's. Very strange!

The 8th season of x-files came in and we are going to watch it tonight.

I see a new mdoc tomorrow morning, have to get up early and be over there at 8;30. I need to be fasting for labs, glad I remembered that just now. My old one quit and did not tell me, I was to have seen her next week!

I typed up my medical history...I keep it on my desk top so that I can easily change it when something changes, meds etc. I will bring that along with my last labs etc.

Do you guys believe in mammo grams yearly? I had one last year and an ultrasound, which was awful! Cold liquid squirted on my breast....I said I would never have one again....
It has been 2 years since my last pap.

Last night I went thru my filing box and got it organized and threw out paper work that was old and outdated. We switched from horace mann insurance to USAA and saved money. I could not find the new packet for our car insurance, I finally found it under a pile of paperwork on my desk. Made a new file for that too.
Happy about being productive!!!

thank you again for reading.
May this be a fruitful december and lets ring in the new year as best as we can.

Bizi, your posts are always inspiring - it sounds to me that December is treating you well :).

As far as mammograms are concerned the information here might help you to make an informed choice; http://www.cancer.gov/types/breast/m...ams-fact-sheet .

Here HPV (the virus which causes most cases of cervical cancer) screening will to some extent replace PAP smears though a smear every two years or so is still recommended. The information here might help you; http://www.cancerscreening.gov.au/in...anges-cervical .

With care.

It has been 2 years since my last pap.

The liquid was basically K-Y jelly.
It is not so bad.

I started getting pap smears when I was in my late 30s when I was on the pill for a little while.
I started getting mammos around 40.

I kept up with the paps but have not been for a mammo because it is a HUGE FREAKING hassle and the people doing the office work/paper work
are slow and annoying and weird as all get out.
AND it takes a half a day to deal with those morons. It does not help that my anxiety levels are always high when I am waiting for nonsense.
Eighteen months ago I had a melt down at the gyn's office about doing the extensive forms.
I was close to panic and then sobbing uncontrollably.

The technicians are always wonderful.

I have to get the mammo soon because I missed about three or four years.

My sis and I keep up with those things even though we know of no one in our large extended paternal or maternal families who has had a medical issue related to that.
We do it because we want our husbands to have comfort in knowing that that we are taking care of ourselves.

I screwed up...I forgot that I was on my period when I made the appointment for 8;30 this morning....so canceled with their answering service last night. Called this morning at 8 to reschedule and apologize for canceling and got their answering service again. They don't answer their phones until 9.
Weird.

I think you probably know my answer to the yearly or 6 month mammo gram.
I'm a firm believer in them. I have had many of the ultrasounds with
them. Much rather have that than the biopsy that i've had to have
twice.

So yes, I believe they are very life saving at times.
But I also know that my mother-in-law who is 99. Had her first
and probably last at about 80 or so.

Thanks donna!
The ultra sound was so unpleasant but my clients wife had a mammogram and it came back fine then 2 weeks later had the ultrasound done because it was offered to her. and she had that done and that is when they found the duct cancer. She elected to have surgery chemo and radiation.
WOW!

I don't think an ultra sound is covered under the wellness part of my health insurance and there for would have to pay out of pocket for that test.

who is trying to watch our money/expenses better.

It sounds like you're being extremely productive, but are still stopping to smell the flowers :)
I'm glad that your lunch bunch is still together :)
And I love hearing about your clients :)

Bizi,

After the mammo showed a possible cyst, the MD ordered
an ultra sound.
That was two years in a row. Then the cyst disappeared I believe.
Insurance covered the ultra sound.

Now we have available digital mammos

http://ww5.komen.org/BreastCancer/Ta...screening.html

I might go digital next time, even if it is not 100% covered by insurance.
Something makes me think that is easier and faster. --Dunno really.

Went to whole foods for beers with my lunch bunch, it was great!!!!
then went to a restaurant where we just had a couple of beers and went home.
I call it a DD because one of the beers was 13% and it was 14 ounces!
We had a good time , enjoyed jeffs student classical guitar recital. He did a good job.

Met his fiance and she is sweet.
Will try to have them over this spring.
She lives in mississippi, ocean springs. about 3/12 hours east of us.

I need to get going, am working today.

I left my car at whole foods so need jeff to take me to pick it up. I did not want to drink and drive.
luckily it is very close to our home 1 1/2 miles away.
have a good day!
I bought a new winter jacket...purple! I really like it, on sale at $35 marked down from $100.
Pennys has this sale going on all weekend.
