It's SNOWING!!

I live in Eastern Nebraska. Usually we have warm Octobers...usually we have hot summers.

This summer, I think fall came in late July, and winter is here. Now!

It's snowing outside! Windy, blowing snow flurries.

Brrr!!!

We didnt even get our furnace safety checked yet, and the gas fireplaces arent turned on. It's still pretty warm in the house tho. (heat is set to come on if it gets to 65 in the house...it's 73 inside right now...)

I guess we're not going to be able to harvest my mom's bell peppers...(they're outside freezing to death right now) It never got warm enough this summer for them to do much growing.

I guess the squirrels can have them if they're edible (they've eaten everything else we planted, except for the jalapenos)

Noooooooooooooo!!! Keep it out there please!

If you look at a radar of the United States right now (340am CST) it looks like the entire state of Nebraska is getting snowed on.

I just looked outside...the little snow flurries are now ginormous snowflakes the size of small puppies. (oh yay...wet snow, while there's still leaves on the trees...great...)

At least our powerlines in this neighborhood are buried, hopefully this wont be like the storm we had on Halloween in 1997. (blizzard, 10 inches of snow, and power was out for two weeks for some people...and no Halloween)

I just hope it isnt icy in the morning. I've not been feeling very stable on my feet the past couple of days (I feel like I have to go from wall to wall sometimes...I dont like it when the MS makes me feel drunk without the fun of the alcohol)...I dont want to slip and injury myself if I go outside.

At least my numb hand is starting to feel better. I'm really not looking forward to my hand getting cold while it's numb. That sounds like it could be uncomfortable.

Break out the mittens, Erin! We had a light dusting of snow this morning, but looks like we might get a little blue sky now. We're supposed to get what your getting tomorrow night. I'm hoping it dries up & goes away before it gets here! :D

I live in NH, and Mt Washington has already had snow here. We are expecting more flurries this weekend, and the temps are going to be in the 20s.

I already have my mittens out. :)

Jingle bells, jingle bells...

There was about 5 or 6 inches on the cement table on the patio this morning. My mom's magnolia bushes still have leaves on them, and they're looking a bit heavy with all the snow weighing the branches down.

The backyard is all white, but the cement patio, the driveway and the street are all clear. Still warm I guess.

It's cold in the house, but not uncomfortable...I'd rather be a little cool than a little warm. At least all our pipes seem to not be frozen. (dad turned off the sprinkler system yesterday and shut off the water inside the house to the system)

I'm glad I did the minor trimming to the rose bushes the other day. Trimmed off the ugly bits, and the bits that were a little overgrown, but left all the good growth on the bushes. (going to be putting Xmas lights out on them as soon as this snow melts to get ready for Xmas decorations)

I didnt see any ice on the sidewalks (yay!)

I saw on the news that North Platte (waaaay out West) got something like 15 inches of snow. I think we officially got 1 or 2 inches, but since I live practically right next to a big lake we usually get a little bit more. (local weather guy explained it once, but I still dont really understand why we get more snow because of the lake...it's not that huge of a lake)

That's amazing! We had our first hard frost last night but no snow yet. Anything can happen in Illinois though. We had our coldest summer on record since (I think) the 1920s? I had one pepper from each of my two plants.

I started moonflowers from seed and didn't get one bloom. The petunias I started from seed didn't flower until September and I started the seed in March!

The tomatoes didn't do very well either because it was a cool summer. It would have been a good time to plant the Alaska varieties. :)

I read somewhere that we're supposed to have a very cold winter but not too much snow, I think that's what the farmer's almanac said for our area.

We lived in Western Nebraska for about 8 years and giant snowstorms this time of year were the norm. I do not miss them!!

Good luck staying out of the snow and ice.

Brrr!!

I was going to complain about it only being in the 80's today but guess I won't say a word. Nope; you won't hear it from me.
