youtube: do you have a favorite oldy song you could share
Hi,
I listened to Joan Baez's "Forever Young" just now. :Music 2: I'm in a calm place right now. The song seems to have the good vibe of a blessing and yet the sad vibes of something else. So maybe I will move on to another song. Anyone have any songs that help you sometimes? M. |
oldies... hmmm... well favorites, anyway
thinking of these as oldies is weird, but one of my favorite "soothers" that i have bookmarked is
Dreamweaver by Gary Wright. Another is Dust In The Wind by Kansas. Mari could you post a link to your Joan Baez song? good thread! :) and good to hear you are in a calm place.:hug::hug: ~ waves ~ |

Saw this in another area of Neuro Talk. It's called God and Dog. It is very simple and touching (I think).

This is a very oldy oldy: I remember I was 12 when this was on the charts. I was in the hospital for a foot operation, and listened to it alot on my dad's new transister radio!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqOtojNN9Ek In fact I have many of the old works of Johnny Mathis (before 1965) when his voice was perfect. It took me quite a while to collect the very oldest of his...but today many have been remastered. He lost some of his great range/voice because of his smoking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEH3uqbpsm8 This famous song shows the album cover with his cigarette. This one from his religious album in 1958 shows his great voice and range. Good Night Dear Lord. This is Deep River, a gospel song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_P7E_dSoCM I love this album. In fact I mentioned this once before and a poster came here from S.Africa asking me where he could find this album! It was produced by Mitch Miller and the orchestra of Percy Faith. A real nostalgic thing...for those who grew up in the 50's! ;) |

I need an upbeat song. Then eventually I move on to another song after a few weeks . . . M. |
Burnin' for you - BOC
Burnin' For You by Blue Oyster Cult
(album Fire of Unknown Origin 1981 CBS Records) this little bit, and in particular all of the second quartet, holds particular meaning for me, albeit with melancholy and nostalgia. it is reassuring to hear someone else sing it somehow. it makes me feel less alone in it. Quote:

You Needed Me - by Anne Murray
This is a song that BrokenFriend posted about, for the New Year. It is one I love as well, so i wanted to add a link to this thread:
You Needed Me by Anne Murray Other versions have lyrics and image sequences. But she is very easy to understand without lyrics displayed. So, I picked this one which shows Anne Murray singing. There is a spot in the middle where it all goes black  but she does "come back" after a while. :) y'all enjoy. ~ waves ~ |
Not really old favorites. These are ones I came across recently
