Joining the GYM....

I am almost sure that I am joining our local gym.
This time I will go in the evenings after dinner instead of getting on the computer or watching tv.
I am even considering swimming there....it would be good therapy for my arm.
I am going to see the PT again this evening and ask what he thinks.
I need to lose about 15 pounds that I put on the past year...so am considering dieting too.
I took my vitamins this morning and flossed my teeth, new years resolutions that I had not been following up with.
It is the start of a new year and I am going to try to make it a good one.

Dear Beth
That is great. You have clearly defined goals. That means that you are likely to carry them out.

I hope you get useful input from the therapist.
You sound good.

Beth
The water would definately be good for your Shoulder. And how do you like the therapist. Did I miss it somewhere.

I really miss my club membership. But I have a script for the place in
town that supposedly has equipment that I can use with it.
Now to just get in and check this out.

I like my therapist alot, he is very confident that with treatments, my shoulder is going to be fine.
He discovered today how terrible my neck is and gave me some exercises to do for that....I have had neck issues for many years.
So I guess he will be treating my shoulder now more cautiously knowing that I have a bad neck.
Electrical stimulation and ultra sound and stretching with thera bands....
pretty simple stuff...
the stim makes my muscles jump and feels weird.

Jomar 02-03-2010 11:29 PM

with the stim - don't let them turn it up too high.
If it feels too weird or strong ask them to turn it down a bit.

bizi 02-04-2010 12:28 AM

they said to have it on as high as possible to jsut unconfortable for 15 minutes...which I have been doing....the jumping of muscles feels weird.
thanks jo! he did not stretch me today...I think he did not want to hurt me....I need to be stretched every visit.

Hi Beth, I am glad you like your therapist and the way he is handling the treatment.
The gym idea is terrific. Water exercises are gentle and very effective in healing damaged muscle groups.

I am in Calcutta now without daughter or husband. Been here since last Sunday and will leave to go back home next Sunday - a week of blissful escape - almost. My father is here and my sister, so I am just so happy. Visited some old (18th/19th century) residences and ruins yesterday. I love the feel of those places. Each has their own vivid center of energy. Acres and acres of land with buildings - a few maintained well with manicured flower beds and others in ruins with huge banyan trees with hanging aerial roots growing from within and around.

I am going to see Sherlock Holmes today - on my own. Everybody is at work so I thought I'd take myself. I have never watched a film alone so I am really excited!

Bizi, I didn't mean to hijack your thread, but wanted to share this and wasn't sure a new thread was yet merited. Perhaps when I am back.

Love to All

Bizi
If your neck is bothering you a lot too. You might want a script for
it too. So that he can work on it too. I don't know but the shoulder
and neck are both connected.

I know because my massage therapy helps the neck and my sides the
most. I am finally getting better.

Today when I went I had dizziness and some problems with a headache
starting I could tell my neck needed stretched. Which she has done before.
But its not in this order. But I asked and she did it anyway. And it was
so much help, just a few minutes of extra to help something that would
have been bad all day and night.

just wanted to give you a quick up-date on my shoulder.
This is my second week of physical therapy.
IT is going well.
The staff are using electrical stimulation and ultra sound to help prepare my shoulder for stretching and movement done by either the PT or PT assistant.
This "stretching" really does not feel good (it hurts) but is needed and I have increased range of motion already.
I am very hopeful!!!
So I am trying to do the exercises with out hurting myself.
Please send good thoughts my way for a speedy and full recovery!

Gym is on hold for now.
