swelling around my optic nerve
First of all, I'm new to this forum so hello to everyone ! I have been having headace's, blurred vision, disorientation, nausea, forgetfulness and so my dr. sent me to have an MRI, an eye exam and to the neurologist. The eye dr. was first and he found that I have swelling around my optic nerve. It kinda scares me to think what could be causeing the swelling. Has anyone ever had this?

Welcome to the community! Sorry, I have no answers for you, hopefully one of the others will post who has more experience. I certainly can understand why you are concerned. That would be a scary set of symptoms to be dealing with. Let's hope your doctor will figure it out quickly, and that it will be fairly innocuous to deal with.
In the meantime, though, keep us updated on what is going on. You will find this a wonderful community to come and chat with. Even if no one has an answer for you, at least we are hear to listen and sympathize. Hugs, |
Welcome to the forum, skmklal. I don't have any answers for you either but maybe somebody else will. Maybe someone could direct you to a specific forum on here where the people there might have more answers for you.

I have had optic nerve swelling
Hi, I am a newbie here too. So strange, I have found many intesting questions and answers in the last hour, than I have in a very long time surfing the net about fms. anyway... you were asking if anyone has had optic nerve swelling. I had cancer (don't let that scare you) and had a thyroidectomy where they took out all of my thyroid... and soon after that I started getting the same symptoms you were describing. I was sent to a eye doctor who told me that it was because I was overweight and I must have gained a lot suddenly and so forth. I did not believe a word he said cause it was not true. He even went on to say that I could go blind at any minute.... for the next three months I hardly slept at all... I just stared at my 8 year old daughter while she slept trying to burn her image into my mind.... it was awful. They finally gave me this medication that makes your feet and your hands feel like they are asleep for long periods of time.... and they were very insistant that I walk and watch my diet. I did not do the latter two. They had me coming in for different tests weekly... and one day I was all better... just like that. That is all I really know... wish I could tell you more ... but you may have enough info to ask the doctor if you have fluid behind your eyes?
Take care and hope you are going to be doing better real soon, Arrow |
