Mad Men... anyone watching this?

I am just watching season one on On Demand from Comcast.

Very interesting. (since I was a teen in the 60's)

The way these guys treat women, will raise many female viewers' blood pressures.

But all in all I like the creative treatment so far.

Warning: if you watch too many in a row, it can be a mega downer!

I love this show. I think it shows a lot about advertising and our current culture. Did you see the one where they have the picnic and just leave all the trash sitting at the picnic site? It's great in how it brings up topics in our recent past that we want to forget about.

Mad Men season 2 starts today on Comcast OnDemand.

Looks like all the shows from the previous 3 seasons will be run before the season premier of season 4.

I really love this series...the psychology and the nostalgia, and show 201 had some great music too!

Season 3 is starting today on Comcast On Demand (free).

I new 4th season opens on July 25th.

I guess not many are watching this series? It is really very interesting, and quality writing, acting etc, IMO.

I tried but i just can't get into this. All my friends love it but i can't see the appeal.

Season 4 is rolling along now...and is rather intense.

The best episode ever is #7, called The Suitcase. The acting in this episode is enough to win Emmys for Jon Hamm and Eliz. Moss, IMO.
I recall an interview with Weiner, the writer, and he said this season is for "consequences". Well, last Sunday night, the problems with Don's daughter Sally, are reaching a head, I suspect on the season's end episode we will have a major cliffhanger with her! (the parenting on this show is just awful... but I have to say, I remember some of it myself, as I grew up during that time--only MY dad wasn't Jon Hamm ).

Mrs D, just found this message. I am a big Madmen fan. I miss it. Yes the Sally thing and Betty's disdain for her children, even violence get to me. Don and the secretary ending threw me tho I guess it shouldnt have. She is opposite Betty for sure. I find myself now trying to watch the new AMC series tho I sure dont need the horror aspect. Quality TV is hard to find.

Well, you are braver than I am. I certainly couldn't watch a Zombie horror thing with stalking etc, and sleep normally at night! cringe cringe

I think the ending episode was rather lame. No cliff hanger there to keep me interested. It just seemed like more of the same! I suspect tho that Don's new potential wife, doesn't want to be home, but wants a career (unlike Betty). So if there is another season, maybe that is what it may evolve into. He doesn't even "know" Megan very well... (her name is Megan, right? ) And I don't think that his shrink squeeze is going to go quietly into the night either.

Some of the episodes are really good, and others, well, less so.
I do think Jon Hamm will be nominated for best actor tho. He did a good job this season! I think he is the whole show in fact!

I love the nostalgia. We have magazines upNorth, with ads in them with clothes just like they wear on the program! ;)
And I remember all those dresses too myself!

Did you know Jon Hamm has a steady partner (not married yet) ...the gal from Kissing Jessica Stein. (Jennifer Westfeldt). He had a tiny part in that movie!

MadMen is being rerun now on Comcast to set up the new season.

There are also episodes on OnDemand. Still showing the first season.

It is an AMC channel production.

I grew up in same era. I only watched a few episodes and of course I watched it from my Aussie perspective cause that's where I lived at the time.

What I did love was the way it was filmed, and the set and costume design. Very depressing era really, in so many ways.

As art, and withdrawing my emotions from the episodes that I saw, I felt it was brilliantly done. Costumes, set etc.
