usually my mom makes us hunker down hush up and hide out when people knock... for years now... it makes me sorta sad. we don't get all that many trick or treaters but still. this year i "rebelled" - went and bought mini kitcats and mini bounties to give out. :) ha! so there.

hmmm.... project for the day... maybe i better make some goofy sorta construction paper pun'kin or somethin' for the door... to let ppl know there's goodies here. or we'll just get silly strung as always.....

look forward to the pix, Bizi.

hee hee i live in a condo... erhmm.. no porch light. :p

we had some trick or treaters early. i was glad to have them... and sort of relieved that my buying candy was not futile. also they were little kids which was cute. or should i say "witches" were cute :)

usually they come real late which is why mom doesn't like opening the door.

We live in an apt., so we probably won't get any kids. I bought a little candy just in case, but I've already eaten half of it myself :D

Tonight we're carving out our pumpkin. I don't think I'll be able to do it myself anymore- hence one pumpkin. We'll have some tasty pumpkin seeds for a few days...

Bizi, I love the idea of people setting up tents to feed people! :) There still are some generous humanitarians out there! :)

Dear Bizi,

Hubby and I had a quiet day inside.
We did hear lots of noise but did not go out and investigate it. Hubby thinks we heard noise from church loud speakers -- church a little ways away for that I think.
Then we had 20 minutes of fireworks from the downtown of our little city.

That was our big Halloween.
What do you do with your leftover candy? Did you enjoy the trick or treaters?

When I was a kid, my mom took us to church two nights in a row near Halloween: All Saints Day and All Souls Day. We went to church a lot, but these two days seemed particularly important to her because she used to spend some time explaining why we had to go.

Dear Kay,
I hope that your Halloween went well.
Do you roast the pumpkin seeds?

Hubby has been cooking pumpkin or other winter squash in the crock pot. I think lately he cooks it plain. In a few hours it is ready and a nice treat.

Raining outside now.
I hope the skies will be clear in the morning -- I've got umbrellas everywhere so I am prepared. Still I prefer the rain to happen when I am not traveling about. Yeah, I am a little whiny. ;)

Today is All Saints Day (1 Nov)

Here it is observed as a (major) public holiday - everything is closed. Many go to Church.

Tomorrow will be All Souls Day (2 Nov). here it is called the Day of the Dead. folks go to the cemetery to visit their dead. around this period, special cinnamon thingies are made (soft, oblong cookies), with cinnamon and dusted with powdered sugar. they symbolize bones of the dead even though most are very soft to eat. i always thought that eating bones of the dead was kinda twisted but... i can't complain ... they are yummy.

i do not have any bones but i have a big bowl full of kit kats and mini bounties because we did not get any trick or treaters after the first group. :( i know living in a condo we would not get a lot, but we used to get more. oh well. i just ate me two kit kats for breakfast.

interested to hear how Bizi'z haunting went.

Mari i hope you get to stay dry. it has been rainy here too, but with everything closed, nobody is going anyplace anyway.

Kay i hope something nice happens for you today, that makes you smile.

“In Guatemala, children fly giant kites in cemeteries
on November 1 (All Saints’ Day) and November 2 (All Souls’ Day),
to honor the dead and carry wishes up to the gods.”
