Hi
I've been tossed all over the medical field in the last year and a half or so, nobody can identify what's wrong with my hands...finally, I and my therapists think that I have found it. RSD or CRSPS. I will be seeing my doctor soon to see where she sends me next. So painful, but the steroids do help. I eased off of the and WOW, forgot how much pain my hands caused, disproportionate to anything I did.
Look forward to getting to know you all. I am a licensed artist/designer and musician. Can't play any of my guitars now.:(
Any and all responses are so very welcome. My husband is in hospice in our home. He was a Firefighter and is dieing of Chronic Rejection of a transplanted lung.
Love,
Pam

Could it be a repetitive motion injury?
Makes me wonder when you mention "artist/designer and musician" those are hand & posture intensive uses.

You might want to read on our thoracic outlet forum {TOS} for info on that possibility.
The useful sticky threads are like a crash course of info- all in one place- from the web searches by members.
TOS forum useful sticky - http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread84.html

Most of the forums here have stickys of collected info - they are located above the main threads list with the green circle icon w/arrow on it.

If you are able to describe your symptoms we might be able to help point you in the right direction.

TOS is another of the mystery conditions and quite a few of the symptoms can overlap with RSD.

Hi Pam and Welcome,

Quite a battle your fighting. We have some things in commone so I can relate to the frustration with not being able to play guitar. My husband, son and daughter all play an instrustment my husband and son guitar and my daughter keyboard/piano and she just got a keytar for her 16th birthday, she loves it. Anyway my husband at 48 just recently has had a problem with his right hand out of the blue he doesn't have RSD or anything but he was dumb founded that after 35yrs he just could not play. I think he might have carpel tunnel and he has been wearing the splints, I happen to have one and it has helped. So I can understand your frustration. I'm sure they have tested you for Carpel Tunnel already? I hope you can find some relieve and a proper dx's.

We are also caring for my husbands mom you has Stage 4 Lung Cancer. She is in some type of remission since her Chemo but stage 4 is stage 4 so we just are taking it day by day.

Good Luck.

So sorry

Have you been checked out for rheumatoid arthrtis? My twin has that, and I went through a battery of bloodwork and other tests with a rheumatologist to rule out RA or anything RA related before my RSD diagnosis was finalized. I'm just mentioning it because when you talk about your hands I think of Suzy. Her hands are where she suffered the most with her RA when it first started.

The very best of luck to you and your husband. Please take care of yourself. Sandy
