I may be loosing it!!
It has to be true that music sooths the savage beast. Either that or I'm loosing what little mind I have. To explain, yesterday my wife decided to go through all the closets to see what she could find to put in a yard sale trying to make a little money. Lord knows we need it. She finally made it to my closet and she brought out a box with 10 or 12 music CDs in it. I used to have hundreds. I crave classic rock and from time to time, I listen to classical music. Anyway one of the CDs in that box is called Classical Greats including Bach and Wagner. I have a small AM/FM/CD player that the speakers ain't worth a hoot on. I also have an old set of headphones that went to my old IPod. I hooked all this up on my night stand last night and listened to the classical music. I mean I really listened. I could not believe what was happening. It seemed as if all my worries and troubles just melted away, I was in my own little world without a problem. I can not remember the last time I felt so peaceful and I actually slept like a rock last night. Although reality has set back in this morning with SSDI and my financial situation. Last night was truly an experience. I posted this hoping it might help someone else get a few minutes of peace but remember, I had to really concentrate on the music.

I have used music for years. I used it to teach myself yoga breathing. I used it to teach myself to relax. I meditate to music. I use it to help when my nerves are about to fizz and pop. I have some specific music/songs so ingrained in my mind that I can even use them when I have no available way to play them . . . I just play them in my mind. I have conditioned myself to the point where specific music can automatically calm me and set my breathing rhythm.
Now . . . put on one of those guided relaxation CDs and I am ready to strangle someone within minutes! The voice over music on those CDs is terribly distracting, and ruins my ability to relax. Glad you found your music again. |

I just told my wife about my little secret. She says she has known this for years. She has a little IPod Shuffle she won from Avon and she has classical music, sounds of nature like a rain storm and several others on there. She asked me how I thought she had kept her sanity through all the struggles we are facing. I then opened my big mouth and told her that I really appreciated her keeping this a secret from me, now she is highly PO”d at me. Oh well, par for the course I suppose. |

Well since we're talking music, I co-host Laserdog's music hour every Sunday from 6 to 7 sometimes the show goes a little over. We feature independent artist from all over the world. It is fascinating to find out what kind of music is being played all over the world . We play anything from rap to rock. Some of our artist are being played in movies and documentaries a lot of them are on tour. It's really cool. Anyway if you want to know how to hear the show e-mail me. I found a box full of eight tracks when I moved from Florida. I don't know why I keep them, I don't have an eight track player. I also found my turn table from when I was a kid. They are making a come back, from what I understand Music is so important to a lot of people, and yet they keep cutting programs from the school system to give kids the knowledge behind music. It does relieve stress and I've even heard of people coming out of coma's on it. So thanks for bringing it up rlj. I'm glad things are going well for you Don. Music never gets old remember Close Encounters, if the aliens do come I hope they are music friendly.
