Thanks for replying. Yes he had surgery on his hand and they botched that and now the only thing they can do is fuse his wrist to his arm BUT with his massive blood clot thats out It could literally kill him.
And that would mean he couldn't move his wrist It would be stiff!!!!! He also has problems with his knee and back- BUT the problem is where to go get medical attention when your broke!!! We have to Beg every month for help and people just don't understand. He currently goes to the Health Dept. for his blood draws he has to have them monthly. Also he gets all his meds there for $5.00-Thank the good LORD I buy his warafin every month. He also has a Bad back and Bad Knee But you have to have cash to see a doctor money we don't have. Any suggestions??? Please reply he is 55yrs old. God Bless You all |
I'm sorry to hear your news oldhen.
I understand the financial difficulties of regular doctor appointments when money is tight. Having the right medical documentation is critical though in getting SSDI approval. It is a tough catch 22....he would have better medical care if had had SSDI money to pay and/or Medicare, but he can't get SSDI and MC if he doesn't have good medical documentation that shows why he cannot work. Who is following him now for the clot issue and prescribing the Warfarin ? Is he just going to a clinic or is he seeing the same doctor each visit ? You can see the difficulties that your husband has just in doing activities of daily living. You can see that he is unable to work. The medical documentation needs to paint a picture of that so SSA can 'see' his disability also. The dx of a clot isn't enough.....many people have had one, had the problem taken care of by blood thinners, and are able to work again without difficulty. Your husband's medical records need to show that he is different than those people. Something caused his clot.....I'm not a doctor and I haven't examined him, but I'm guessing from what else you have described in your first thread that he has PVD. That hasn't been mentioned though as a dx when you have discussed his case here. That's a big problem. Having a blood clot in his leg, whatever that ICD9 code is, isn't a free ride to SSDI approval. Issues that he has since the clot......that he has to keep his leg elevated frequently, it is prone to significant swelling, he can only stand or walk for a few minutes at a time, he can only sit for brief periods and then must lay down.....that is the kind of documentation that he needs. If you can find a lawyer with experience in SSDI claims, he should be able to help review the medical documentation that your husband does have and tell you if it is lacking. Best wishes going forward |

Your husband should obtain copies of his medical records and notes for his own records. Read them especially the notes! This way you will know exactly what was reported to SS and most importantly, if there were any mistakes/errors in the information.
If I were you, I would swollow your pride & march right on down to your local social service department & get on Medicaid, food stamps, and anything else your state allows until you win your SSDI case. Shop at food banks - all food is free. Seek treatment at the free clinics (search the internet & your local Yellow Pages for locations in your area). Most if not all hospitals have "charity" treatment programs = FREE and/or deep discounts! If your husband has depression, is he seeing a physician that specializes in the treatment of depression? If he is not seeking treatment for it, SS will not even consider it as a "disability." |

Seeing a PCP doctor or a doctor at a health clinic probably won't help your case. You should see specialists for all your concerns. They will charge you alot for the first visit but should give you a discount for the remaining visits until you get health ins.
