Pain in left foot

It is either arthritis from when I broke it several years back or varicose veins from standiing all day. Need to see a doctor. I hate to ask permission for a chair at work. That wouldn't go over well with my co-workers. :rolleyes: It's getting worse so I'll call the doctor tomorrow.

I am SO grateful that I didn't have to deal with any of that baloney at work. I didn't work "with" other people...my manager was awesome about my requests...fatigue mats, cooler A/C setting, a stool by the service window. He always sayd, "Whatever you need that will help your condition is fine with me." And nobody in the other offices thought I was getting "special" treatment. What a miracle.

I hope it miraculously gets better without intervention (earthly, I mean), and if not, that your doctor will come up with something helpful.

Well that's just too dam bad about your coworkers. :rolleyes::rolleyes: Tell them.."yes, just think, you could have MS too, lucky me"! :D

Wishing it's only temporary for you..:hug:

If one of your co-workers broke their ankle, they'd probably get permission to use a chair for awhile. I'd ask for a chair. Maybe the pain in your foot has another explanation than MS. (and heals soon too)

Re: ask for chair

[I would not hesitate to ask for a chair at work. If this allows you to do your job OK, I wouldn't care what the other co-workers said. I hope they are kind to you and that your foot stops hurting. ginnie

They don't know about the MS and I want to hide it for at least another year until I would be eligible for LTD. If I should get really sick we get 100% pay for six months if needed. My 3 year anniversary is January 3rd. I think I'll ask the doctor for a note just until I can figure out what it is. It hurts a lot when I first get up from sitting and after standing for nine hours at work. I know it isn't MS or it wouldn't have that pattern.

If it's arthritis I don't know what could be done other than sitting at work because I can't take the anti-inflammatory meds. Most of the people I work with are young guys in the 20-40 age range and big babies. They get irked by me because I keep them on their toes with commissions. Older customers are drawn to me because they can relate to me better. And they usually are the buyers too. So if I get a chair, the whining will increase in volume I'm sure. :rolleyes: :o :D

Wiz, if it is arthritis, and there's inflammation, an orthopaedist might be able to give you a cortisone injection to tide you over for a few weeks/months. Otherwise, not much else they can do, except for PT...

Let us know!!:hug::hug:

hi wiz

I hope it is not the MS making your foot hurt. I also undertand why you don't tell the folks at work. My cousin has MS, so I kind of know what you go through. Have a peaceful and healthier holiday. ginnie:santa:

I had to break down and ask HR for a chair at work. I don't need it all the time, but it's good to have on my off days. Doc did the letter for me both for MS and because I've wonked out both the knees in the past. Had to admit that it felt really, really weird to ask for it, but am glad I did.

And all the co-workers really need to know is that you would need it for medical reasons. Maybe donut bribes could help change their 'tude. ;)

Hope you feel better soon! :hug::hug:
