I was determined to look something up last night, now I cant remember what it was!

UGH! does anyone else ever do this? I mean it was something really important and has to do with my MS and its treatment, and a piece of it that I wanted badly to go look up on the internet, but I was in bed, the DH was on the machine, and I didnt feel like getting up and being bothered. I said "when he leaves the machine, I will get up." Well, I looked up, the room was dark, the machine was off, and I had NO idea what I wanted to look up!

Am I alone? Why did I come in this room is a common cry in my house! Where are my glasses is another, and Has anyone seen my cane?

I do that quite often too, Dej. It's so frustrating but the harder I try to remember what it was the worse it seems to get. I will usually remember it at some point....usually when I'm thinking of something entirely different.

I need to start writing things down when I think of them. Maybe that would help.

Yikes! Yes, this happens to me quite often. I don't know if its my age, hormones (54) or the M.S. I've learned that when I decide I really want to look something up, WRITE IT DOWN. I have little notes scibbled down on magazines, newpapers and the dust on my computer table! :p

This happens to me all the time.

As I have aged I have less quality sleep... so I hang there in
an altered state, where I can't remember things, etc.

I've been working on improving my sleep, and finally found something that works.

Melatonin 3mg is not enough. 300mg Theanine is not enough, but when I added in l-tryptophan 500mg ...that did it. If something wakes me up...like last night, I'll get up for an hour or so. All 3 together, gives me sleep again!
But I am sleeping mostly now thru the night, and more clear headed in the morning.

Tryptophan, cannot be used by people on SSRI or SNRI drugs however. I found NOW brand less potent than the Doctor's Best which is significantly stronger at the same dose.

I think while you are in that altered state, your mind is not engaged. Don't let it alarm you...I think it is a normal sleep stage we can get stuck in.

I not only do that from time to time but I actually look the stuff up, read it, and a while later can't fully remember what I read. It takes some effort to try to remember it. I get what you are saying.

MrsD - DD20 has a terrible time sometimes sleeping. I picked up some Neuro Sleep for her to try as melatonin was not working for her. It has 300 mg of magnesium (doesn't say which kind), L-Theanine, Melatonin, 5-HTP, and taurine in it. She drank 1/2 a bottle of it and said she slept really well. I have heard others say the same thing about it after they drank it. Most people have said that 1/2 bottle is enough for them to get a good nights sleep.

I find 5-HTP agitating for some reason. But some people do like it.

If the magnesium is OXIDE or has OXIDE in it for a mixture it is
not being absorbed. Chelates or SlowMag (magnesium chloride)
are much better. Ionic Fizz has carbonate form that works well, too. I've pretty much switched to magnesium lotion, now, since all the mags are hard on my GI tract to some extent.

The tryptophan was the major thing. Hubby is now using it too.
He sleeps lighter than I do.

The theanine has stopped the anxiety and nightmares I was having as well. It is helpful to relax but not really a sleep aid per se.

It is really important to avoid caffeine during the day, too.

Naw...that never happens to me......Wait, what were we talking about? :D

My memory is so impaired now that I will sit down at the computer and that fast what was on my mind is gone...in and out in a flash. I don't even have time to grab my iphone and turn on the recorder feature...:(

Dejibo 02-13-2012 12:28 PM

I remembered what it is, then forgot it again! :o

I think we're all going to have to walk around with a little mini recorder on a chain around our necks. Whenever we think of something we want to remember later.....we talk into our recorder and make a "live mental note" of it. Sort of like a sticky note that talks to us.
