Okay, what?
So we are having a multi family garage sale here on Memorial Day weekend.
I am trying to convince my children to get rid of things. So I was in my son's room going through his books. I had a stack of the "board books", you know the kind for really little kids. Well I dropped a handful of them on my foot, one landed on edge right behind my big toe. It burned really bad when it happened. Instantly the one spot bruised. I didn't have time to do anything with it, I had to go get my daughter off the school bus. When I got to the bus stop (my neighbors) I noticed that, beside the big bruise, next to where the book hit there is a knot that feels like bone. It hurts to bend my big toe up and I have occasional bee-sting-like pains in the bottom of my foot, but other than that it seemed fine. Until about an hour ago. Now my whole foot feels like the skin is stretched tight and it aches in so many different places! It didn't hurt at first to touch the spot where the bump is, now it does. What the heck? This makes no sense! Guess that just fits right in with everything else about me though. :p K I'm done whining. |
Put ice on it and elevate it. The skin is stretched tight probably because it's swollen from the injury.

If it's still botherig you this morning, why not have it checked out? Probably the books landed in just the wrong spot, but if it's as painful, or more painful, I'd run it by a doc.

I hope there's not a broke bone. Broken toes just have to heal on their own....and that's hard when you walk and are constantly moving them. I'd have it checked out just to know what you're dealing with. Why not use this as an opportunity to let other family members pick up some slack and let you rest?

Thanks everyone.
If it's still like this Sunday I will probably go to the Urgent care. It is a branch of our hospital and the closest place I can get x-rays. But they wont be open tomorrow and I couldn't get to them before closing today. |
Did you put ice on it and elevate it?

How about cool tap water? of course, you cant exactly elevate it and put it in water at the same time without making a soggy mess. Wet washcloth maybe? no ice.
At least elevating it, that will probably reduce some of the swelling. I had a lot of sprained ankles when I was younger. Used to roller skate a lot and when I tripped and fell it usually involved a sprain. |
Is it any better today?
