My son Danny's Colonoscopy has been scheduled

Wow, this weekend and then Monday the 4th are going to be busy.

I'm so glad I had already taken Monday and Tuesday as Vacation
Day's. Even though I would have been able to take a sick day.

I am know scheduled to take him for his colonoscopy. I had already
told him I would. It seems its scheduled for 1:30pm. I will be anxious
to see what they find.

Also it seems there is discussion as to whether they might do surgery
to remove the intestine. Or whatever it is that causes the problem.

Well we will finally have some answers.

He has needed this test for a while. He is getting way to skinny.

If you don''t remember he has ulceretis colitis for sure. We are not
sure how bad it has become. The new doctor has changed his med.
I have no idea what he is on now I cant get anyone to spell it.

HE also is on prescription Iron because his is so low. He also has
to wear a special outfit because his lead is so high were he works.

He says he finally feels lots better than he has most of the winter.

Dear Donna,

Does he know what he is doing (or eating) differently since the winter?

At any rate, I am happy that he is doing better and has surgery scheduled.

The thing different is the iron he is taking.

Sounds like things will happen rather quickly? I hope he doesn't have to have surgery that would be hard on him.
Thanks for letting us know.

Blowing off steam

Ugh, My son still hasn't gotten his directions in the mall.

And I don't know what will happen if they don't arrive tomorrow.

I am going to be gone starting tomorrow through Sunday.

I don't know if they don't come either in my box or his.
If he will do as I suggest and go get them. Or cancel.

I am not liking this at all. Just irritated that they didn't
arrive as they should have.

Ugh.

maybe you could call and have them faxed to you if you have a fax machine?

I can't call. Thanks to HIPPA. Ugh.

And I don't know if my fax will finally work for just this thing.

Stopid thing.

But good idea. I might try to figure it out.

Okay, things worked out. And he had his colonoscopy today.

It even worked out that my husband was home and took him.

I have always believed the lord works in mysterious ways.

He was laid off as was the whole team he worked with on Friday,
and the contractor.

Anyway, Danny was diagnosed with Crohn's today.

We will have to keep a close eye on him. He needs to do a few
things immediately. But one is to improve his mood.

And another is get a primary doctor.

Donna,

'Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. The good news is that doctors know what to do now to treat it.

Ask your doctor about extra vitamins and minerals you may need:

Iron supplements (if you are anemic)

Calcium and vitamin D supplements to help keep your bones strong

Vitamin B12 to prevent anemia
I know he is on iron. Maybe his doctors will add Calcium and vit D. Does he drink milk? Some people's doctors recommend that they stop taking milk.
His mood will improve as he starts to feel better.

'Sending good thoughts and prayers.

Thanks mari

And yes, he is worried right now that its a death sentence.

And it will help that my husband is around more to help with
this. We have a really good friend thats son. Was diagnosed
last summer and was at death's door when they found it.

I suggested my husband call him, and get some clues what it
all means too. But his idea is to take my son down to meet
the man. Which is a good idea too. Because he will get him
back on the road to working on this.

But I appreciate all the help.

I personally have felt for a while this was what was going
on. And treating for ulceratis colitis was what was wrong.
That we had moved to something else now.
