Shoulder Pain

For a week now with migraines I have a terrible pain in my stiff neck that travels down to my shoulder then elbow and the rest of my arm feels tingly and fingers are numb. A week ago it was my right arm and now its my left and I noticed my hand was colder than the other one. Hubby agreed.

Could it pinched nerve?

A family member suggests Fibromyalgia?

Anyone know anything about either?

I'd consider your neck at C-4 to T-2. I had this problem for a long time until I found a good physical therapist who solved it very quickly. She was able to use myofacial release to get the spasming muscles to relax and allow the vertebra to get back into proper alignment.

It took repeated treatments to get a long term result.

Thanks Mark,

I'll definitely talk to my doctor about this.

I'm in agony.

What are ur thoughts on the comparison between TBI and secondary Fibromyaglia?

A family member of ours (non blood relation) was diagnosed with this after a severe brain injury.

The problem with chronic neck/shoulder pain it falls into so many ailments.

Ibuprofen and compresses aren't working anymore either is massage.

I feel worse after my sessions. My shoulder muscles go into fits when I'm there and today when she worked on my lower back I jumped. It almost felt like something moved inside.

I have found that I sometimes need to change practitioners to find one who works with my body and ailment better. I have seen this with PT's and chiros.

There is a self therapy that helps with these issues. You connect a rubber stretch therapy band to a location at shoulder height. Then, you pull on it and pinch your shoulder blades together. This strengthens the muscle and helps to correct the poor positions of vertebra and other upper back and shoulder anatomy.

It does not seem like much but it works great.

Mark,

I'm not sure if I can do those exercises....

I can barely move my head today. I woke up at 4am with pain struggled to get back to sleep. Up again and the pain is worse now then it was earlier.

Pain!!!!

OMG I tapped my right arm so slightly on a door handle and I jumped out of pain instantly it began a tingly senasation and my fingers are numb and cold. My doctors office is closed until tomorrow and I'm alone at home.

My mother in law was here earlier and felt my hands and all she said was...I have no idea what to say....Thanks.

I tried using my hand and jumped with pain. I don't know what to do.

Is there anything I can do?

Is there an Advice Nurse that you could call? (Here, many health plans have a telephone number to call and speak to an Advice Nurse....)

If not, is there any walk-in clinic that is open today? It doesn't sound like you can wait to see someone. Doesn't your doctor have a telephone service that picks up messages??

Let us know how you are doing....

Shelly

My doctor doesn't allow us to use walk in service and I've left a dozen messages with nurses and such....waiting for return calls.

My sister will take me to doctors office tomorrow morning.

Thank you for the response and for caring

The pain just finally subsided. I had a hot soak in the bath for a half hour.

I spoke with the brain injury clinic and they said if I cant wait for GP then to go to emergency. I chose to wait. Those waiting rooms are way too congested...and all those ppl? forget it!

Hopefully doc will see me tomorrow.

Just saw this thread; how did the appointment go? What did they say about the pain?
