deep ache in low tspine

this might be my ehlers danlos syndrome

my stomach muscles are strong but my shoulders are very weak.

i have a DEEP ache in my tspine
my core is pretty strong right now so i cant think of why its aching so bad unless it's my upper back being weak

do u guys have this? it feels like the bone is aching but i guess it could be nervy

Jomar 07-31-2012 12:54 PM

Could it be that core is much stronger than whole back? causing pulling & strain?

mspennyloafer 07-31-2012 05:38 PM

mmm no :(

the only part of my body that is REALLY strong are my pecs and masseter muscle

It could be rib dysfunction. Many of my mysterious lower backaches magically disappeared once I was having my ribs mobilized regularly (and after the 1st ribs were removed to allow necessary space for mobilization).

yeah honestly i am confused about this rib thing

my tspine is hypermobile now, if anything.

Marc- can you explain rib mobilization? I haven't had this done, but both first rib resections done. Still having pain in neck, but lower back has been getting bad too. Is this something that should be routine maintenance after these surgeries? Thanks!

Maybe my ribs are out of alignment?

My sternum pops ALL the time

Rib/thoracic spine mobilization should be routine maintenance after these surgeries according to my PT, Dr. Ando. They actually use this technique to prevent surgery (if only I had seen them a few years ago!). The ribs attach to the thoracic vertebra so proper rib and spinal alignment go hand in hand. Rib subluxations can cause a multitude of trigger points as well. Beware of therapists who adjust the thoracic vertebra without ever touching the ribs. What has your experience in therapy been?

The soft/MELT roller seems to be the latest development in self rib mobilization. Once in alignment, these rollers keep the ribs from popping back out. Hard foam rollers are to stiff to be used on the ribs.

This is the softer roller that may be better for TOS women: http://www.optp.com/Pro-Roller-Soft_PSFR36.aspx

OPTP makes the melt roller but I can't seem to find it on their website.

Dr. Ando checked the two side by side and there does not seem to be any difference besides the color.
