Eyegalsses and pain questions
My sister gets daily headaches. Recently, her wire frame glasses have been
hurting her head and ears where the glasses sit. Does anyone have similar problems? She is wondering why her head hurts and if it is related to her headaches. She has to wear the glasses loose and they always fall down. Does anyone have any suggestions? She does not have health insurance. Thank you. |
Her glasses need ADJUSTING badly. She needs to go where she got them and have them adjust them. The optician there can do that for her for free. They will fit them to her head, so that they won't fall down anymore or hurt her.
Any time they start falling down or hurting her again, go back there and have them adjusted again. This should NEVER HAPPEN. Best of luck and God bless. Hugs, Lee ;) |
And then there are those who work at the eye doctor's office who really have no clue adjusting them. Went thru that and so did my husband. So we pretty much learned how to do it ourselves.
There are some good eye glass adjusters who really do a good job but then there are the others. They should adjust them for free. That is the norm. |
She went to several places to get them adjusted. Most of the places messed up her glasses/made them worse. They still feel uncomfortable to her.
Is there anything to put on eyeglasses to help with pain? Like, padding or something. |
Ask to have the DOCTOR adjust them. Tell them outright that you've been there several times and the optician made them worse. So ask to have the doctor adjust them. He should be able to get them just right.
Put some powder or corn starch on the sore areas. That will help heal it. Do NOT put any lotion on those places that hurt because that will make it worse. It has to be something like corn starch or powder. Believe me, I did this for over 15 years. I don't know why those idiots couldn't get her glasses adjusted corrected! My patients were always satisfied -- and I never let them out of the office until the glasses were straight, and sitting on the face like they were supposed to be! Bless your sister's heart -- it's bad enough to have to wear glasses in the first place, let alone having them hurt and not fitting well. This makes me mad! The opticians obviously were not trained at ALL. Grrrr. God bless you both and take care. Hugs, Lee |
You know I've run into an eye doctor who couldn't do that great of a job either. The other one - same office - could adjust them perfectly. It is frustrating for sure.

Thank you for the responses.

When I was a Realtor I had bad headaches almost all the time, as long as I had contracts in negotiation. Stress seemed to bring on the headaches. My broker had the office manager buy Advil for me, the way he bought sugar for everyone else's coffee. Since I've had B12 replacement I don't get headaches from stress. I'm no longer a Realtor, but there's as much stress due to legal problems as there was when I was younger and healthier. Also, low vitamin B12 affects nerves, even the optic nerve. I buy Methylcobalamin sublingual lozenges. I could get free B12 shots on Medicaid, but I prefer to take care of myself on a more daily basis. The cost is not great. The results are great. |
I don't think she had been tested for any vitamin deficiencies. I could mention the B12 to her.

Maybe her prescription is not right for her. As far as the frames go, it's understandable how uncomfortable a poor fit can be. That needs to be corrected. And her prescription double checked.
