Pantethine
Just read and interesting article about the postive effect of using Pantethine which I guess is a special form of B5. According to the article it's used alot in Japan.
The artcile says its slows down the formation of cholesterol in the liver and boosts burning of fat. It lowers the LDL and raises the HDL. It also lowers triglycerides. ANyone have any experience with this vitamin, just curious? |
Thanks for bringing this to my attention again. I meant to look into it furhter and possibly try it, but I forgot.
Here's a bit from LEF magazine in 2000: Quote:

I'll have to look on my bottle of vitamins but is this in B complex or do we need to supplement separately.
The article I read really showed some impressive results in lower triglycerides and bad cholesterol. Apparently docs in Japan prescribe it. Can we get it here? |
I have some of this in my vitamin cupboard- look at -
http://www.loweringcholesterol.net/ I need to get back to taking my vits/sup regular again. I did finally put up my shelf so my vits are right in front of me when I am at the sink now. |
I tried this many years ago...
Panthethine had no effect on my blood work. The most significant changes in lipids for me has been fish oil. Lowers triglycerides and raises HDLs.
Everyone is different however. |
Pantothenic acid (vitB5) was instrumental in stopping serious brixism that my son once had

Well just wanted to let everyone know my results from my blood tests and since it is cholesterol related this thread was perfect.
From 3/6 to now I have done the following... Trigylcerdicies 159 to 152 (and thats with adding in some heavy fish oil which I read could affect triglycerides) HDL 82 to 60 (still good) LDL...Woo Hoo...202 to 144 All through diet and light exercise. Think of what I can do when I can exercise more. Proved the doc wrong...no need for lipitor yet. And just for the heck of it...b12 went from 454 to 789...thanks to the sublingual. Thanks for the suggestion, I owe that one to NT. The one worrisome thing that I did not know if it was cholesterol related was that Cardio CRP??? was high and its said high cardio risk. But I'll ask doc about it next week. I will keep at it and see how my cholesterol drops. No pantethine for me yet. |
Fish oil has beeen helping people for years. Now Dr.s feel they just
discovered it, May it's because i'm 60 and the longer you live. The more you notice. This is why Mrs.. D website will be so much help to so many. Also Rose's site is so helpful. I wish years ago i had remained on fish oil and B12. I wonder how much Pantethine you should take?? Sue I just heard after cleaning a sore on your foot, put honey on it. For a diabectic it will heal sore faster,i hope so. It's been on the news most of day. |
Shelley,
How long have you been on the sublingual B12? That isn't much of an increase unless it has been a very short time or you were very low and malabsorb severely, so will take a longer time to rebuild stores. How long? rose |
Hi Rose,
I am not sure of the exact date but I would say likely 1 1/2 to 2 months. |
