new and confused

I am new here and was just told yesterday that I have nerve damage in my feet
This started sbout 90 days ago. I am now at times having aches in thighs and tingle or crawling feeling in and under chin( I did tell doctor all this) but got no comment. He drew blood to check on 1 certain protein. Boosted neurotin to 1800 mg a day.
I read too much on net and now I am upset.
Question 1 whst protein he looking for snd why.2. Just need someone to talk with who has similar issues who can guide me. :(

There are autoimmune antibodies that circulate in the blood.
Some of them can be measured.

There are also markers for certain cancers. Some cancers cause
neuropathy symptoms. This is called paraneoplasia.

So when you get the results get copies of it, and then we can try and explain more fully. Glenntaj here is our testing expert, and he knows far more about this subject than I do. He has had umpteen tests over the years, and understands them very well.

But there are over 100 causes of neuropathy. Some doctors don't test for them all.

Here is an example of Dr. Latov's LONG list...he is an expert in NY.

Hi

Try not to freak out. This can be a long process with little results. Sometimes when we first get symptoms it can be frightening. Sometimes they calm down. since my condition started about 3 years ago I have had all kinds of pains and sensations in almost every part of my body. Be aware of it and continue your journey but doctors no little about nerve damage in my opinion. I wish you well.
