SCS day 8
 

After suffering for 10 years my scs implant(straight to having perminate 1 fitted)is giving me about 60-80% pain relive which i'm pleased with.Setting's need changed as i need controll of the 3 seperate areas individually at the moment they are all together as 1.Body movement is still affecting as if i move and each down to my right it increases and the opposite happens when i move to the left.This i'm told is due to the bruising and will stop happening once bruising stops.Is this true?.
My mood is lifting and starting to feel more possitive.
Who else has 1 of these fitted,would like to know a bit about you should you wish to share:grouphug:.

I am 3 1/2 years into using my permanent Boston Scientific SCS and I have tremendous success using it for lower lumbar and leg pain management. One thing I did have to get used to was the effect of increase in sensitivity to the signal if I change body positions. After several months of accepting this reality, it truly diminished in my mind's eye and I was far less attentive to "Hey, what's that?"

Your personal use will settle in to a rhythm and routine and the newness of those signals traveling your nerve pathways will become more normalized for you if your healing is anything like mine was.

I'm pretty new here, too, but I can tell you that everyone here is amazing, and they have offered me insight, wisdom, help, and good ol' camaraderie!

I received my permanent implant four weeks ago today, and you are correct in that as the swelling, bruising, etc. goes down, you will find that your settings will need to be tweaked. I called my rep yesterday to say that I'm needing another "adjustment" - so know that it will be a little while before it all settles down, and I think that is totally normal.

I'm so glad that you are getting such great pain relief! After years of suffering myself with back and leg pain, multiple surgeries, procedures, etc., I, too, have found my pain relief to be about 60-75%. There are no words to describe how incredible it is to have a measure of relief!

Please keep us posted with how your progress goes - and if you have any questions, there is a wealth of knowledge here from people who have - or who are - walking the same path!

Is True...once the swelling starts to go down everything shifts a bit and settles in...hang in there.

where is the battery located?

that will help with feedback....mine is in my r-bum and I have had very little problem after all things settled as I said,

Hopeing to get one soon..What is the best location?I am not sure yet how soon..I cannot wait..I would love to walk more than I can now,which is not much..I want to work around outside too..I just keep thinking how much RSD has changed my life..I want my old self back..I will pray for everyone here..Bless you all..

It is so good to see you here on the forum, and I hope as well you might have your old self back..... well, maybe even your younger self back! :D I write thusly as it has been nine years for me not being my "old self" and I know I was a good deal younger then than now.

So, how about I hope for you that you have your younger self back!

So glad you found us!
Congratulations on the success of your unit! You are getting a good percentage of coverage, how wonderful - especially after having suffered all these years.
It does take a bit to get used to and usually a couple of 'tweek sessions' are necessary to get it fine tuned.

I've had my unit 4 yrs and just love it. I get about 70% coverage.
Be sure to mind all the post-op recovery rules so that you won't be back to get a revision due to migrated leads! :rolleyes:
